Favorite thing: Visual impact
Grand magnificent and majestic contrast of Arab and European architecture predominates the silhouette of this majestic city, illuminated by the waters of the river and the sea. Sultan taste stunning bridges that marry the surroundings. Breathtaking contrasts that fill the eyes, the heart and the soul.
Live the city
East joined west in harmony and abundance, energy with life and color. The refined European gourmet side by side with fried fish sandwiches sold on a boat at Eminonu.
Turkish tea that does not meet all European tourists’ taste but together with smoking a water pipe and watching dances, adds to the tranquility and pleasure of living the city.
Eating for all tastes and wallets. Tasty and well seasoned street food or pricy quality restaurants for all. Rich and sweet delicacies and cakes.
A city where the world meets and says farewell. Sit at sunset by the Blue Mosque and watch the world go by.
Visit the different regions of this user friendly city. Well organized with specific areas where certain items can be found.
Visit the glorious palaces, mosques and museums. Go on a hop-on, hop-off bus and see from above what does not meet the eye and how all the pieces and parts fit together.
Art and craft the essence of the smiling warm Turkish culture and people. Affordable wealth that all can take home, if not mislead by some items now made in China that lack the quality of the original Turkish original goods.
Well organized and clean Bazaars that wrap visitors in gold, species, carpets like paintings and other treasures.
Surprisingly similar to other Southern European cities. With an abundance of all types of goods found in the most pompous cities of the world.
Visiting the city in festive seasons is not the best. Long queues for all tourist attractions and time not used productively. Weather is comfortable and cozy in April and May.
Istambul cannot be visited and lived in less than seven days. In the end what will remain is a longing to go back.
Never look down on the Turks or Turkey for this is clearly a country and Istambul a city that proves that it does not need to be in the EU to be European and head for the future.
Fondest memory: Warm smiles, hearts, flavors, weather and life to its fullest. Past, present and future in a city for the world.Related to:
