Favorite thing: Zalala beach is situated about 30 km from Quelimane. You can get there via a bumpy road which is to be described as a palm lane. You are surrounded by palm plantations. This is the real Africa as from a book!!
The beach is very wide and feels like a concrete plate. (there were once suggestions to set the land-speed record here). In the afternoon the fishermen return in their dows on the beach and the catch is broad to shore. When the catch is good the people come running back with filled baskets of various fish.
You can buy them directly from them for a good price. They'll be selling Baracuda, Kingclip and King size shrimps!.
To be a witness of such pure and simple activities is fantastic as well as the taste of the fresh fish.
Fondest memory: The fine taste of 'lanha' (the water from the coconut shell)
