    The Cape Liner bus to and from Windhoek was a very comfortable way of traveling. The trip from Windhoek to Swapkopmund takes four hours.

    Swakopmund - a traditional Ex German City at the West coast of Namibia
    The city itself has no mainstreet. The center itself has german names like "Post Strasse, Kaiser Wilhelm Strasse. A lot of hotels, restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. Touroperators are offering excursions to the Skeleton coast and Kaokaland
    The architecture is special. At the Bismarck Strasse, the Woermann Haus (1904) you will find a previous trade center of the Damara/Namaqua trade union, an important trade union before the first World War as trade route between Hamburg and South Africa.

    In front of the lighthouse restaurant they had this lovely little park with jumping castles etc for the children where they could let go and get rid of those excess energy.

    Take a nice leasurely stroll along the beach. They have lovely little laid out paths that you can follow and just watch the sea and get some good excercise for free.

    When you sit and sip your coffee at Cafe Anton, you overlook the area where the informal traders display their stuff. They come from all over Africa and you can pick up some really nice things here.

    The desert is there and you can see it from most places in town. When you venture into it, please be sure that you do have enough water with you and stay on the roads. In case something goes wrong stay with your vehicle at all times.

    At the park next to the presidents beach home you will find the statue commemorating the soldiers that fought I think it was the world war. There are bronze plaque's with their names on it.

    Us girls always need to get some retail therapy and the shopping arcade is just what you need when you had enough of the desert and other things.

    Desert Explorers runs an eco friendly four wheeling adventure into the dunes. It last for about two hours and includes, bike instruction, helmet, goggles, a lunch and one of the most amazing experiences ever. It is truely amazing and should not be missed if you are in Swakopmund. I never been quadbiking in my life and had no trouble. In fact, I turned into a bit of a lunatic. I guess you never no how your body will react when taking a new drug.

    Actually is the presidential holiday home, this building used to be the first magistrates court in Swakopmund.
