Favorite thing: Visti Sossusvlei, in the Namib Desert. A big extension full of sand and very very red dunes. These dunes are not originally from this place. They are made of iron and other particles carried by the wind from the south of Namibia (diamonds area) up to the north. They are placed here forming star-shaped dunes in the middle of the NOTHING. It´s beautiful to see the sundown right here, when there are not so many tourists, which is not easy.
Here everybody tries to go trekking over Dune 45, called like that because it´s 45 km far from Sesriem the closest campsite. It´s the hightest dune here (they say in the world, but it´s not so), about 300 m.
The place is full of green vegetation because in 1997 (the last time it rained here) it rained 150 mm in just one night!!! so much that since then until last year there has been a lake and plenty of vegetation has been growing: trees, and bushes.

Favorite thing: go to the Namib and the two rivers Ocavango and Kwando:
the first respresents the desert, the second the tropical.
With a lot of luck you may see flowers in the Namib. In the desert a little of rain is enough to let the flowers grow. The sperm can rest in the dry earth for years and with a little bit of water it starts growing, very fast, very colourful cause the fluid wouldn't last very long.

Favorite thing: When you are in Namibia, you absolutely must climb the famous Dune 17 and Dune 45. You must go to Dune 45 to watch the sunrise...many people do this...you have to wake up very early to start the climb, but all this effort will be well worth it...the site is amazing...these dunes are MOUNTAINS of the finest sand you'll ever encounter...the sand evaporates when you blow it off your hand...the sunrise is magnificent...this will show you the Glory of Namibia..the Beauty of Namibia!...You must also visit Swakopmund...go skydiving (my dive got canceled because of a sandstorm that hits once every 4 years!! my luck!!)...go quad biking....go shopping...it's a quaint little town with a lot of adventure. You must also visit the Harnas game reserve....you will see and touch and walk with the wildest of animals...
Fondest memory: My best memory of Namibia was climbing Dune 17. It took over an hour of RIDICULOUSLY HARD WORK to get to the top...my friends and i were abou to die...it's so hard, but when we got to the top, we felt very accomplished..it was a beautiful view and worth the hard work for the experience...even my friend ZaZooma made it up!!! Zalatin skiied down the dune...LOL Quafsa made it to the top fist with Benson...!! Good job man.

Namibia was my quid pro quo for agreeing to join a friend on a family visit to Cape Town... nothing against Cape Town or South Africa, just that my idea of a month away normally meant beaten tracks......
