Favorite thing: Fish River Canyon, it´s said to be the second largest canyon in the world after Colorado Canyon. It measures 160 km in length and up to 27 km in width, and the inner canyon reaches a depth of 550 km.
It typically flows between March and April, and then it diminishes to a mere trickle until the end of winter.
There is a legend among San people that the wildly twisting Fish River Canyon was gouged out by a scrambling snake named Koutein Kooru as he was pursued into the desert by hunters, well who knows?
Anyway the sight is gorgeous and the sunset wordless, even though not always hiking is allowed in the canyon.
