African Craft...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Here you can enjoy barginning with the vendor. They tend to set a lot higher price so that you can cut the price into half first then keep cutting until......
There are plenty alongside of Independent Ave. And the best price for Herero doll is sold in Kalahari Sand Hotel, whcih cost R25.

Rand and Namibian Dollar are both legal tender in Namibia.

Street markets, Crafts Center, etc.: Local craft
  • Tip Rating:
  • The streets are full of local crafts vendors, they all sell more or less the same objects so you can bargain. If you prefer fixed price, you'd better go to the Crafts Center (Tal Str.).

THE BEST WATER IN THE WORLD
These are the 2 best flavoured waters in the world. Really. I found them at the BP fuel station in Windhoek. The pictured flavours, MARULA and NAARTJIE are amazing and beyond compare. Combined with that, they were ice cold! It gets hot in Windhoek so why have just any cold water when you can have heaven in a plastic bottle. Makers NESTLÉ has a full range of waters : Litchi, Lemon & Lime, Marula, Strawberry and Naartjie. Other manufacturers make some of these flavoyrs as well, but I prefer this brand.

Enjoy! Also available at other retail outlets.

    Supermarket
There is a shopping mall with big supermarket in the centre that was great, you can find there all the food and groceries you need for your road trip or safari in Namibia. No need to bring anything from home.

    SHOPRITE: THE BRAAI SUPPLY
Do you need supplies for your Braai (Barbeque)? Shoprite is the consistently best place in Africa to get what you need. They even sell the firewood! This location is right on the main Independence Avenue. There is parking most of the time. They offer fantastic pre-marinated steaks (Texas Steak – yum), prepared salads of all descriptions, fresh bread, even pots and plates. A good variety of fresh vegetables, cold beers and loads of snack foods. They staff are friendly and prices are good by Namibian standards. Going out of town? Stop in here and refuel first!
