Lastly some ideas on how you might incorporate Omaruru into your trip.

Unless you have a long time at your disposal, the large travel distances in Namibia force most tourists to choose between exploring the north and the south of the country, with the north being the more popular option.

If you are travelling to and from Etosha, think about employing my travel motto: "Never go the same way twice". It doesn't really matter which way around you do it, but I would recommend travelling to Otjiwarongo one way on the B1 (which heads pretty well due north from Okahandja) and tarvelling the other way on the C33 via Omaruru, which then connects to the B2 close to Karibib. Both are good, fast tar roads, and the travel distance isn't a great deal longer (well, at least by Namibian standards).

If you want to incorporate Omaruru into a visit to Swakopmund, just turn north onto the C33 at Karibib.

If you're looking to stay in the Erongo region, I would rather recommend Omaruru as an overnight stop, in preference to rather less attractive towns such as Karibib and Usakos.
