Bring a light weight backpack...NOT A JANSPORT FIGI!!! THAT INFERNAL BAG IS WAY TOO BIG!! God Bless REI for it's return policy!! All terrain shoes...comfortable, not boots....you must bring clothes for very hot weather, as well as, very cold weather if you are camping like i did. I was there in August 2000, and the weather was hot during the day and cold during the night. Travel toilet paper, immodium AD (for diahrea) and a bar of soap...you should also buy a PAC Towel...this towel is a travel towel that is like a chamois for a car...it dries very very quickly with a small squeeze and it holds an enormous amount of water...buy 'jungle juice'...this is a mosquito repellent..you don't want to get malarai... (i shoudn't need to say that you MUST be on LARIAM or some sort of anti-malaria medication!) light camera with a GREAT zoom...you'll definitely be thankful you brought...

Good shoes

Remember to pack with you good shoes for walking and hiking. In some places you can use sandals, in some, you better have shoes, in the heat of the day the sand dune might burn your feet.

It turned out to be a good idea to protect the equipment (backpack, suitcase, whatever) in the trunk with a plastic bag/sack from dust. Specially when travelling on dusty gravel roads.
