Revolutionizing street names
A walk through the streets of Swakopmund can suggest a recent change of mind on the part of the government. The ex president or rather the “founding president” as he loves to be called, Sam Nujoma, has been glorified in very visual terms by having a street named after him. He is not the only hero of the new times. Other buddies of his have populated the streets driving off the original German characters in a push to Namibify the country. There is General Moltke being sidelined by somebody plucked from oblivion strait in the middle of downtown. As if this city is not going to grow and offer more chances for street names to be assigned accordingly. May be the fears of the white minority are not as fictional as some might think but rather real. Considering the example of neighbouring Zimbabwe an anti-white revenge seems plausible.
