The Elephant Bar is located in the Sheraton Hotel Abuja. This is a great little spot! It opens around 7 PM I think, but doesn't get busy until around 10PM. There is no cover charge for hotel guests, and no cover at all during the week. Weekends is 500 Naira ($4 US), I think.
The weekends bring incredible live music from local bands. These bands were jammin' the weekend I stayed there. From JUJU to R&B they covered a wide variety of styles and kept the energy level very high.
As I was only here for a few doays before heading to Lagos, I can't compare this spot to any others in Abuja. I didn't have a chance to venture out. I can say that I think you'll enjoy it here if you're in town.
Since this is the Sheraton, drinks and food are overpriced. Know you're Naira conversions well to assess if your purchase is worth it. There are no hassles here. So if you want to just grab a beverage and enjoy the music or dance--you'll be fine here.
Didn't get a chance to go to the Sheraton Club. I've heard good things about it too.
One serious drawback, at least in my opinion, is that this is a bar almost exclusively catering to Expatriate men. Although that happens to characterize my status, there is something to be said for a local Nigerian club atmosphere. You will not get that vibe here, but not a bad environment all the same.
