Kano has a fairly strict Muslim society. When I was there I saw a lot of Osama Bin Ladin propaganda posters and I was talking with some shadier characters as in the more fundalmentalist type. I had no problems and you should not have any also if you respect the Islamic ways.

I spent a couple of days in Kano as I was crossing Nigeria from east to west. I am pretty sure I enjoyed Kano. There is history here (it's West Africa's oldest city dating back more than 1000 years)...
