If you don't have a knowledgeable cab driver, you might miss Pat's Place. There is a barrier wall hiding the bar front and the sign is tiny and just says Pat's. If you're looking for a bit of home (the English, for sure) come on in. A lot of local English men and their "prospective" dates abound in this place. Food is okay. Too fried for my taste. Cheeseburger was good, though, with plenty of chips. Rugby, football, tennis, horse racing on 3 TV's in the main room. Pat is a jolly fellow; gregarious, accommodating, with his dog by his side and will tell you to drink up and have fun. The local patrons will play whatever music you request- if they have it. Good fun if this is what you're looking for. Open from 10 a.m. to very late.

The Ikeja Night life is most interesting, there are the good, the bad and the ugly. What is common place though is the overwelming presence of the Police and security personnel. If you are legitimate, ...there is nothing to fear moving about at night in Lagos.

I can't give any tips on the nightlife. There's a big club in Benin City young people use to go. But, it is very dangerous to leave your secure house or room in the dark...so better stay at home, as the natives use to do it, too. Always try to get home before it gets dark around 7 pm.
There are also some nice Bistro's restaurants where you can try the Nigerian kitchen. I would prefer doing that.
Those pics have been taken at a privat party

Some watering holes with bottled beer on sale.
If you can drink the local beer Gulder or Star it is cheaper......but takes some getting used to.
If you do go out at night, it must be with car and driver.
You will definately get stopped by the police so just stay calm, smile and slip them 20 nira.
