It is a clean, western style supermarket. The speciality is that you don`t need to buy food ,vegetables etc. on the street
What to buy: In this supermarket it is mainly food
What to pay: more than in Europe because everything has to be imported
Score is the first general store of Pointe Noire, with only imported food of course. They offer a large range of fresh food from Europe (milk, cream, yoghourt, canned food, etc), from Cameroon (fruits and vegetables) and from South Africa (meat).
As a normal Congolese, it is not possible to shop there.
As a European, you have to expect to spend from 3000 to 4000 USD per month just in normal food.
Pointe Noire is one of the most expensive places in Africa, mainly due to the petrol companies.
What to buy: You can find everything for the normal meals at home.
Don't buy wine there, very often it is spoiled. I have purchased five bottles in five different occasions, and all of them were not drinkable. There are other places for that.
What to pay: Very expensive, but there is no choice.
There is nothing to buy in Congo.
Of course, if you go to Africa, you like to come back with some local handycraft, masks, jewels, statues.
Nothing is typical Congolese.
Everything is made by West Africans or DRC people. What you can find there at a very expensive price is found better and cheaper in all other African countries.
What to buy: Nothing
What to pay: Certainly not as much as they ask
