Packing for Reunion
Rental cars on Reunion are not large, so avoid bringing tons of luggage. We had one suitcase and a small carry-on per person. If you plan to go to the beach, bring water shoes, because Reunion's beaches have a lot of coral on them, and it can cut your feet if you step on it. Also bring comfortable hiking shoes or boots. The hiking on Reunion is some of the world's best, and you will want to do at least a little bit while you are there.Reunion is fairly informal, so you won't need to bring fancy clothes. Decent pants and a shirt were fine for all of the restaurants that we went to. Bring plenty of sunscreen. You will need it, especially if you are going to the beach or exploring some of the higher altitude sights, such as the volcano or the ridgelines, which are above the clouds and get strong sun.
