In the town of Piton Ste. Rose some believe that devine intervention happened here in 1977. In 1977 a volcano erupted and the lava poured down through the village. Once it came to the church now known as Notre Dame de la Lave the lava literally split about a metre in front of the church and proceded around it on both sides. You now have to walk down a staircase about a metre to the entrance of the church. Leave a Comment
Directions: Piton Ste. Rose is on the east side of the island and the church is south of the village.
