Spend time at the Youth With a Mission Base, if you're there long term or have extra time. There is always something going on, a preschool, primary one and two, traditional dancing, etc. It's a good time.
Go for Pizza, if you're there for long term. If not, try the local food. Take a look in the kitchen first. Is it clean? If so, enjoy your african cuisine.
You should go and do some shopping in downtown kigali, there are nice crafts and gitengi's (sp) which are the traditional wraps. I even had some pants made out of that stuff.
Def visit les milles collines hotel. . unfortunatley I did not do that! What was I thinking (or not thinking)
Visit the genocide memorial in Kigali. It was opened at the ten year anniversary. It is very informative and also eye opening but in a more museum like kind of way (not like the gikongoro memorial!)
Go to a church. Personally, I reccomend the Miracle Center church in Samuduhah cabeza. Take a taxi from Kigali (or wherever) ot Remera. Then take a motor bike (or another taxi if you're brave enough) towards samuduhah/ cabeza. tell them miracle center church.
Visit a childrens program on a saturday morning. Follow the same directions, but tell them Assembles de dieu church, almost at the end of the taxi line towards samuduhah. It starts at 9:30/10 am on Sat mornings and the singing is wonderful. You would be very warmly welcomed and you would not soon forget the experience.
