I am motivated by challenges, so when our group leader--innocently and with nothing in mind other than my best interest--suggested that I might want to go with the group doing the "less challenging" climb, I was determined to make the harder climb or die trying. Suffice it to say, I almost died trying, but I am glad that I made the climb--in small chunks of climbing with oh-so-frequent breaks that must have been burdensome to the in-shape hikers with goat-like agility. I am also proud that the nice man in the picture ignored us when we said, "No thanks, we won't need any help carrying our backpacks or water." So, he was there when it became very apparant to me that, yes, I would benefit from his services!
