Colin's 1929 Rolls Royce Tour

by NCCruiseGurl

In November 2008, I was fortunate to visit this delightful island. We lucked up and were invited to tour the island with 13 others from our ship. We took Corker's Tours Rolls Royce convertible tour for $33 each. Our five hour tour included bouncing around the island seeing all we could see: from Napoleon's tomb (he's not there anymore), Longwood - his home while bannished on St. Helena, Lot and Lot's wife, the top of Jacob's Ladder and so much more. Having an open top with the best way to see this island. When the rain started, Colin handed out the umbrellas. One island lady came out of her house and took a photo of us! Those from our ship were envious of us. It was lots of fun. Right before we left, Colin's wife, Tracey offered each of us (for $5) a laminted 2009 calendar with a photo of us on the island. It was a nice memento from our tour.

The Ship St Helena our link with the world

by Aabebi

RMS St Helena is unique and the only way to my home Island Tristan.First of all, she is the only ocean-going vessel in the world still to carry the venerable title of Royal Mail Ship, held in the past by so many famous British passenger liners, the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary amongst them. Second, she does the unique job of supplying our remote South Atlantic island of St Helena with pretty well everything it needs - St Helena has no airfield and this means that everything has to be brought in by sea. A voyage on the RMS is an unforgettable experience: a blue water voyage on a working ship to lonely and remote tropical islands and to Aab. Sound interesting? Read more. RMS St Helena is a small ship. There are no theatres, no casinos, no golf ranges. On the other hand the emphasis is on relaxation. Life on board is far from frenetic. You can bask in an atmosphere of sun, sea and relaxed,...
