Currently two prisoners sit in the prison of Jamestown. Serious crimes are dealt with in the UK and prisoners are kept there. The building dates back to 1827.

Reaching the top of Jacobs Ladder one can see the old fort and the modern guns which were installed to protect St. Helena during World War II.

I did it! With a lot of sweat a walked the ladder up and down.... 699 steps which were constructed in 1829 to connect Jamestown to the garrison on Ladder Hill, and was used to haul ammunition.
