Luggage and bags: Your bags will be trashed at the airport and on the road. Bring something sturdy, yet lightweight and lockable. A cargo pack made from cordura nylon, perhaps.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Bring sandals that can used in water, muck and mud and still stay on after you have been knee-deep in the tidal flat mud.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Malaria prophylaxis - very important!!!!!
Sun screen, hat.
Mosquito repellents, mosquito net.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Summer clothing year round. Bring a sweater for winter nights.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Contact your local health centre at least 6/8 weeks before your departure to see if the vaccinations you have are sufficient.
You will have to take anti-malaria drugs, most preferably Lariam. Start to take these pills 2 weeks before you leave. Side effects of Lariam may be very serious (hallucinations, fear, ...). If you face such kind of problems, ask for a combination of Paludrine/Nivaquine which has no side effects and is only a little less effective.

Miscellaneous: Bring ballpoints for the children, lots and lots of ballpoints.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Don't forget to take walk shoes with good socks, coton light coloured clothes.
And of course, your swimming costume!!

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Be careful with your health!!
It is a nice country where you can catch many diseases:paludism, hepatitis A & b,yellow fever, polio etc...
Above all,to have a nice stay,do not hesitate to take anti mosquitos cream and suntan oil!

Photo Equipment: Light is very strong and colors are so bright, take a good film like a 100 asa or ultra one!!

Luggage and bags: Pack as light as possible, you will probably do quite a lot of moving around - so a backpack is probably the best option.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Lightweight clothing is best, though a jumper will come in handy, as it can get quite cold along the coast at night. Take a pair of smart clothes for nights out and restaurants and also a strong pair of walking shoes and sandals.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: A first aid kit with the usual remedies. ie, diarrhoea tablets and rehydration sachets, and also take anti-malarials as this can be a problem in some areas.

Photo Equipment: Film and batteries shouldn't be a problem to get in Dakar and other large towns, but anywhere else you probably won't get it. It is also fairly expensive here as well. It is best to take more than you think you will need.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: It might be a good idea to take a sleeping bag, you never know if you will want to sleep outdoors one night, or, it can come in handy if the bed linen looks less than useable.

Miscellaneous: A waterbottle and torch will also come in handy.
