This is the most warm, strong, chaotic, cheerful, noisy, stinkful, dark market I've been to. This is a must while visiting the big city. You can buy almost everything in this big centreville 2 flights building market.

This market only almost sells food and food related goods. On the streets nearby you can buy other type of things specialy local handicraft.

Everywhere we went we saw stalls laden with mangoes for sale. If we stopped the car, we would be bombarded by people trying to sell us fruit.

Some of the best contemporary music in the world comes out of Senegal, no doubt about it.

Experience this while you drift through Dakar's bars and music houses.
Bring some of these memories with you in the form of cassettes and CDs that you can buy on every street corner. However, watch the quality of what you buy. Lots of pirated music.
Better even, buy a drum! I was thinking to buy one on my last trip, but decided my luggage load was big enough. I now regret that, and on my next visit I will definitely get a drum...

Most "African drums" for sale in your home country are probably from Senegal or made by Senegalese, so you will have an idea of the price before you set out from Senegal. Deciding factors are of course size and quality and the fame of the drum maker.
