Maki: Eco Friendly Tee Shirts

Maki is a tee shirt/clothing store that specializes in Eco-friendly merchandise. Whenever we travel I like to pick up a tee shirt so this was the place I came to look. The shirts were well made and nice quality. I found a grayish green tee shirt with a map of the Seychelles on the back. The prices are a bit higher than a regular tee shirt but I didn't mind paying the 375 Rupees about $37 US.

Citimart: Grocery Shopping

Food on the island is expensive even more so now with those Somalian pirates. Every supply ship coming into the island needs an escort to ensure safety and that costs money. This added security is reflected in the prices of food and other imported items such as liquor. Many people that are staying at resorts chose to shop at the grocery stores instead of paying the high prices of resort restaurants.

Fortunately there are several larger markets in Victoria as well as smaller markets in the otter areas. We had access to a small market right down the road from our resort; perfect for picking up some beverages and smacks.

The Seypot Factory coop produces a wide range of ceramics from local materials.
You can find ceramics in images with typical Seychelles scenes.
I bought several pieces but sorry to say, I gave them all away as gifts.

At the Craft Village

You can by all sort of things on the island, especially in Victoria where you can find a lot of little shops selling tea, clothes, woodcraft, strawhats, coconuts,…a lot of souvenirs to bring back !
KreolOr on Albert Street is quite well-known and proposes nice objects and jewels made in Seychelles.
In the Craft Village at Anse aux Pins, you will find beautiful souvenirs too.
But please, don’t buy object made of turtle shell, it is forbidden now, and you wouldn’t hurt those peaceful animals, would you ?

There are many craft shops and stalls lining the sidewalks of Victoria. T-shirts, sarongs, hats, and postcards.
You can get designer jewlery made in the Seychelles under the Kreol Or label.
