During our visit to Mahe we took a tour of the Tea Plantation along with a fellow hotel guest Caroline. The tour is rather inexpensive at 25 rupees a person. The tour is a short one about 15 minutes in duration. The tour begins with the drying of the tea, then sorting, blending and finally the packaging. Our guide was one of the factory workers and was very informative. We even purchased some of her home grown cinnamon for 25 rupees for a nice sized package. After our tour we wandered the plantation and admired the views of Port Glaud.
After wandering the grounds we went to the tea shop and cafe. We decided to sit and have some drinks. the ladies enjoyed some Iced Citronelle tea while I had a Seybrew. Afterwards we purchased some Citronelle tea for home.

The Botanical Gardens was a highlight of our visit to Mahe. We decided to visit the gardens on a Saturday in the early afternoon. I was amazed that there were so few people in the gardens. We only saw three other visitors during our time here.
The gardens are truly beautiful with an amazing variety of palm trees, plants and flowers. Throughout the gardens are plenty of shaded areas with benches to sit back and enjoy nature. My wife and I loved exploring and finding some interesting plants and trees such as the aquatic banana tree and the famous Coco De Mer Tree.
There is also an area with Aldabra giant tortoises. These creatures are big fellows and a bit on the smelly side. My wife said she didn't think anything could smell worse than a Koala until she met this crew.
Price of admission was 2.5 Euro and was very much worth it to us. We had an educational yet relaxing day at the gardens.
The gardens are open daily from 8am-5pm.

Finding little secluded spots proved to be very easy both on the resort and off. Many little coves and niches along the beaches are virtually deserted and prove to be quite private. Our little beach walks found us some very nice little areas where we could be undisturbed and utterly alone with each other.

Lounging poolside was a favorite after swim lazy activity for us. We had our favorite loungers under some umbrellas with a nice view of the infinity pool and mountains. I loved just chilling under the umbrella, listening to the waves and talking with my wife. All this relaxation was heaven for us.......

During our stay we were fortunate to experience some live local music and dancing both at our resort and out in town. The Creole music is very energetic and reminds me of the music of the Caribean which isn't surprising. The dancers wore local costumes and encouraged people to get up and dance....this is were I kept seated; no one wants to see my lack of dance moves.

Snorkeling is a big activity in the Seychelles with its clear waters and reefs. Our hotel provided free Snorkeling lessons as well as free snorkel gear. I was happy to have this available and eagerly seized the opportunity. We chose a day that wasn't windy and that had calm water. We didn't see much save for some rocks and a few fish but it was fun.

Our villa had an incredible whirlpool tub for two. We knew this ahead of time and my wife stocked up on some Bath Bombs from Lush for our trip. The whirlpool tub was a perfect way to enjoy some romantic yet relaxing time together while sipping champagne. I loved that we could hear the crashing of the waves below as we soaked in the tub. I also enjoyed that the large glass doors leading from the bathroom to the terrace were able to be opened letting in that breeze and night air.
This was just another heavenly treat during or stay.

The Seychelles is full of large granite formations. There are some small to giagantic formations along the beach and in the water. My wife who is a large earth science geek in my opinion loved exploring these formations during our trips.

There is nothing I love better on a beach vacation than a hammock....and the Hilton had them. One large hammock was locate don the bayside of the resort and the others were on the rock wall overlooking the beach. After a nice swim I enjoyed relaxing in a hammock and drying off as my wife swam in the water below me. Ahhhh....heaven in a hammock...

The Ocean View Terrace is a sun deck/lounge area at the Hilton Northolme Resort. The views here are amazing and situated right above the crashing waves. Liz and I enjoyed spending some quiet time here relaxing and listening to the waves below. It amazed me that we never encountered other guests in this tranquil spot but on the other hand we had it all to ourselves.
