 | Praslin Things To Do | Tips 1 - 10 of 13 | | Popular Things To Do | Other Things To Do Tips | All Tips (13) The National Park (and world heritage site), called Vallée the Mai, in the centre of Praslin is one of the few places on earth where you can see the Coco de Mer palmtree. This species is only to be found on the Seychelles and has trees that can be over 200 years old. The first people who set foot on the islands believed that they had found the Garden of Eden, for the female fruit of this plant has a strikin resemblance with the ´hip area´ of a woman. This nut can weigh up to 20 kg and is therefore also the biggest on earth! The male fruit looks like a giant catkin. A tour in the jungle is worth while, if only to experience the lush vegetation and this living and breathing tropical island from close up. (check out all the palmspiders by the way! And if you get lucky you will even see the rare Black Parrot.) Leave a Comment Directions: the entrance is on the middle of the island, along the main (and only road)Website: www.sey.net

Who wouldn´t feel the urge to dip into those blue waters... Well, I do (oké, I must admit: I am a fanatic diver). If you plan on diving near Praslin I can say this: dive with Island Ventures they are very professional and give you all the attention you might need. And some advice about the dive sites: you should absolutely do ´Marianne Rock´. You will see reefsharks circling over your head in groups of 10. Although the last serious El Niño has destroyed the corals around the Seychelles, we saw that they were gaining grounds again. Little colourful pieces of new life were beginning to cover the rocks... let´s hope they are strong enough to survive the next El Niño! Leave a Comment

Many people say that this is the most beautiful beach on the planet. I must agree! This of course remains a subjective issue, but I personally could not imagine a beach more idyllic and tropical than this one: Anse Lazio... ohhhh, even thinking about it makes me wonder back to dreamland. The water comes in all the blueish shades you can fantasize about and the sand of the beach is of that perfect white coral quality... hhhmmm... sigh..... The reason that this particular beach will be my favorite of a life time is also because the water has no strong undercurrent, is deep enough to have a nice swim and has a perfect temperature. On the beach you can find some natural shades (palm tree shades) and it is large enough to have a nice stroll (especially the granit bolders at the end are very attractive!!!) All around Praslin are huge, fantasically shaped rocks. We saw the one in the picture as we were driving on the road but I am not sure where on Praslin. I remember thinking that I hoped that it didn't start falling down in front of us or worse. Leave a Comment

If you have a day free, go to La Digue for the day. Take a taxi to jetty. The return boat ticket to La Digue cost around 26 USD. La Digue is a small island so you can just walk to get anywhere. When you get off the boat, there will be loads of people offering you to rent a bike. Leave a Comment

Anse Lazio at the north-west tip of the island, is an excellent location for swimming and snorkeling. The road to get there is very steep and full of potholes. We made it just fine in our 4-wheel drive jeep though. Leave a Comment

Another one of the magnificent beaches of the Seychelles in Anse Lazio in the far north of the island. The beach has glorious soft white sand, a few rounded granite boulders and a lively line-up of waves in a magical turquoise colour. The beach is protected by a reef, which makes the water like a giant bath - it's shallow, warm and safe, and there's some nice snorkelling at the end of the beach. There's even a terrific restaurant right on the sand. Leave a Comment Directions: Buses travel from Grand Anse around the coast to Anse Boudin, a short walk from Anse Lazio.

It is the only place on the entire world where the famous Coco de Mer palms grow spontaneously! It is well worth a visit, just to see these incredible plams! The are so tall and their leaves are so huge that I felt really like Gulliver in the land of gigants! And the sound thieir leaves make when shaken by the wind!!! Like tin plate crashing one against another! Inside the vale some rare animals can be seen: a rare snail, a balck parrot, a golden lizard... Leave a Comment

One of the most spectacular beaches on the Seychelles and also voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is Anse Georgette. Situated adjacent to the Le Lemuria Resort the beach is not only tranquil but also a nesting ground for turtles. Leave a Comment Directions: Next to the Le Lemuria Resort - follow across the Golf Course and the signs
