by iwys The Pirates Arms was a real find. Just when I'd almost given up hope of finding a good value restaurant in the Seychelles, I came across this place. It's got a great location, right in the centre of Victoria, a friendly atmosphere, and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. OK, so the food is not the best you'll ever eat, but it's adequate. The Pirates Arms is a nice place to hang out in for an hour or two, watching the world go by. You can just sit by the window, nursing a Sebrew beer, if you want. Check the website out below. It's a webcam, showing the Pirates Arms. Even if you never go there, you can look through the window and watch people eating there "live"!
The fish creole is good. The menu is fairly eclectic, for example, they serve pizza as well as a nice Thai chicken and rice. Good cocktails too. Leave a Comment

Frangipani Terrace by iwys The Frangipani Terrace Restaurant at the Plantation Club offers a different themed buffet dinner every night, accompanied by live music. A dinner with a beer or soft drink costs around $50 per head. If you order wine that bill will soar. The buffets really are spectacular and attract local families as well as tourists.
I particularly liked the Fisherman's buffet, every Sunday night, and the Asian buffet every Saturday. I think they pull out all of the stops at the weekend. Tavern by kyoub Stop by the tea factory to see how Seychelles tea is made. Afterward go into the thatched tea tavern to taste vanilla and other flavors of tea. The tavern also sells citronelle or lemon grass. I bought a bag to bring home with me and it was great. There are some nice views from the tavern windows while sipping your tea. At Chez Marston's; the boss in the background by Saagar A nice restaurant right on the main street (remember, oxcarts and bikers mostly on this main street) in La Passe. When you walk by you instantly take a liking to the laidback atmosphere and Mr. Marston himself sitting out chatting with friends and passer-bys. Indoor and outdoor seating. Attached to a guesthouse (Chez Marston Guesthouse), and food is included for the guests. Got to be a good option!
A good, local-dish kitchen; serves up excellent meals for a good price. We had varieties of seafood which was consistently good. The Lady tried the burger once which wasn't up to expectations (is it ever?). What we came back for as starter or as part of a mix of shared main dishes was the octopus salad - excellent. And.... how could I forget it - the Seybrew! Red Emperor Snapper on the grill at Grand Anse Bar by Saagar Located in the bushes right behind the Grand Anse beach, it's a coconut tree club: sand for floor, stumps and wooden benches to sit on, palm leaf matting for roof, a great little bar and a simple barbecue kitchen. The lunch for the relatively few visiting beach bums and swimmers is the main business concept: When lunch is over and they run empty on food, the locals and beach stragglers congregate for drinks, snacks and music. The best place to meet locals, perhaps? If you ask staff in the La Digue hotels which is the island's best restaurant, they will ask you back - local Creole food or hotel food? For the locals, this one is apparently the choise., and for good reasons. Uniquely, the restaurant comes with a shower (10 rupees).
Fresh hot coals-grilled emperor snapper with creole style sauce - self-explanatory! Cold Seybrew.... It's the only house-like structure near the beach at the bike parking.

Feeding time by kyoub I highly recommend this hotel for their excellent Sunday lunch buffet. It is served out on the side of the hotel by the waters edge. The food is very good and the hotel has an old world romantic atmosphere. Afterward you can go down to the beach. You can also see the fodies being fed or watch the two Seychelles turtles on the property. Leave a Comment

Creole Buffet by Sunchild This restaurant is within the walking distance from Beau Vallon Bay and is always packed . Remember to make a reservation before. It's right at a curve of the main street but - nevertheless, it is really quite cosy. The food is delicious - well - the creole buffet is great! Don't miss it! It's worth the price.
