Plaine St. André Bar and Restaurant: Bad surprise afterwards - be careful!!

by norikro

Local cuisine and food "fusion style", all served in a renovated colonial villa. From the outside everything looks really beautiful and inviting. But the service is the opposite: we went there for a cocktail (they offer a wide range of cocktails because of their own rum destillery) and made a reservation for the upcoming Friday for dinner. When we arrived on Friday we had to learn that the reservation disappeared and that we could get a table in a corner... ok...But the worst surprise we experienced when we got home: We paid our two cocktails with VISA - there the price was 370 Seychelles Rupies (about 20 Euro), but they made a mistake and charged us the price in Euro!!! Imagine 370 Euro (about 500 US Dollar) for two cocktails! And they don't answer any mails, even some telephone calls in fluent French went by unnoticed. Don't get me wrong: you can make mistakes, but this current...

Berjaya Mahe Beach Resort: Buffet lunch at the Pool

by dickiebird

The Berjaya Mahe Beach resort is on the Port Launay side of the island, it is a huge concrete building, quite untypical of the usual seychelles hotels, perched high on a cliff with outstanding views of the ocean and other islands. They offer a buffet on a Sunday that is second to non, they also offer their facilities to enjoy if you spend more than 50 Rupees per person. The buffet cost 110 Rupees per person which will more than cover your use of their wonderful pool and sundeck. This was the best buffet I have had on the island. Including grilled fish, curried chicken, lamb chops and pork ribs with fresh vegetables and roast potatoes. Also included was a variety of salads and desert finished off with cheese, crackers and coffee.

The Pirates Arms: At last! A cheap restaurant in the Seychelles.

by iwys

The Pirates Arms was a real find. Just when I'd almost given up hope of finding a good value restaurant in the Seychelles, I came across this place. It's got a great location, right in the centre of Victoria, a friendly atmosphere, and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. OK, so the food is not the best you'll ever eat, but it's adequate. The Pirates Arms is a nice place to hang out in for an hour or two, watching the world go by. You can just sit by the window, nursing a Sebrew beer, if you want.Check the website out below. It's a webcam, showing the Pirates Arms. Even if you never go there, you can look through the window and watch people eating there "live"! The fish creole is good. The menu is fairly eclectic, for example, they serve pizza as well as a nice Thai chicken and rice. Good cocktails too.

Sunset Beach Hotel: Sunday Brunch

by kyoub

I highly recommend this hotel for their excellent Sunday lunch buffet. It is served out on the side of the hotel by the waters edge. The food is very good and the hotel has an old world romantic atmosphere. Afterward you can go down to the beach. You can also see the fodies being fedor watch the two Seychelles turtles on the property.

Chez Batista: Takamaka Bay's Chez Batista

by Saagar

The only restaurant on Takamaka. A pretty wild place with sandy floor, the beach right there and very rustic, according to the driver-guide it's an old-style traditional construction. It's a bit of a tourist trap, as it it the perfect lunch stop for everybody on an "around the Mahe Island trip". Apparently this fact hasn't cut the quality of the food, but perhaps jacked up the price a bit?Takamaka beach can be wild with huge, crashing ocean breakers. When I was there it was swimmable (Feb 04). Lodging is also available here at about 100 Euro/night for a double in the low season. I notice there are some warning tips from other VT members on this place. If you find Beau Vallon crowded, try this! Grilled prawnsGrilled cordonnier fishDo I have to explain why it's so good???Nothing to clutter its taste and take the attention from the original raw materials.

Chez Marston: The passer-by's dinner in La Passe, La Digue

by Saagar

A nice restaurant right on the main street (remember, oxcarts and bikers mostly on this main street) in La Passe. When you walk by you instantly take a liking to the laidback atmosphere and Mr. Marston himself sitting out chatting with friends and passer-bys. Indoor and outdoor seating.Attached to a guesthouse (Chez Marston Guesthouse), and food is included for the guests. Got to be a good option! A good, local-dish kitchen; serves up excellent meals for a good price. We had varieties of seafood which was consistently good. The Lady tried the burger once which wasn't up to expectations (is it ever?). What we came back for as starter or as part of a mix of shared main dishes was the octopus salad - excellent.And.... how could I forget it - the Seybrew!

Rendezvous: Rendezvous in Victoria

by skippinrocks

Rendezvous has a very good menu, pizza, fish, steak salads, sandwiches and some eye catching desserts. I have had the pizza and the fish, my friends have had the steaks. Everyone seems to agree the food is fresh and tasty. The Pizza is better here than anywhere else I have found. Lot's of toppings. If you stop by, make sure to get the fresh pineapple juice and a banana split. Banana split

the black pearl: le Pearl Nois (black pearl) Beau Vallon

by skippinrocks

Ambiance was nice. Service was a little more attentive than normal. The food was excellent. The fried fish platter came with 3 different fish fillets. The owner seems to take some pride in his food and it shows. I'm not a french cuisine expert, but it did have a french flare to the decor. Fried fish

al Mare: al Mare on Beau Vallon Beach

by skippinrocks

al Mare is hard to miss. It's a large white house that sits right on Beau Vallon beach. The owner, Livio, is an Italian who has lived here for decades and obviously loves his job. Sit inside or on the patio where the waves crash just feet away. I have had the seafood kabob and steak platters and both have been excellent. They have a good wine selection. Very friendly owners. seafood kabob

Boathouse: Visit the Boathouse restaurant Beau Vallon

by skippinrocks

This is the place to go for good food on Beau Vallon beach. There are other amazing restaurants here as well, because this is tourist central, but to me, this is the one you can't miss. The restaurant opens at 730pm. I recommend reservations as well, but not necessary. It is a creole style buffet served in a boat at the restaurant. One thing to remember, the green chili sauce is hot hot, but oh so good. I highly recommend the mango salad and grilled tuna. I could make a meal out of just those two. Buffet and drink will cost about 280 SR. Grilled Tuna and mango salad
