Hilton: Hilton Seychelles

by skippinrocks

North of Beau Vallon about a mile is the Hilton. If you want a great hamburger, look nowhere else. Most places seem to want to overcook a tiny patty of beef and call it a hamburger. The Hilton has a huge, juicy ½ pound burger that is incredible, and they salt their French fries which is also something that no one else seems to do. Service is friendly but slow. Great sushi and a very good band playing in the background. Right on the ocean and a great view. Worth a trip and not much more expensive than some of the other cheaper hotels. Juicy delicious hamburger!

Berjaya and Coral strand: Berjaya and Coral Strand hotels

by skippinrocks

Other than the Meridian, there are two other large hotels on Beau Vallon beach, Berjaya and Coral Strand. Both have similar restaurants. The Berjaya has a dinner buffet with a Hibachi grill in the corner that is about 550 rupees, a Chinese restaurant open all week for lunch and dinner and a pizzeria open for lunch and dinner. It also has a free breakfast for guests. The Chinese restaurant will cost between 160 and 300 rupees. The pizzeria has pizzas, burgers, pasta, etc, for about the same cost. The Coral Strand has a very similar setup with similar prices. Petini de pollo and grilled fish at the berjaya. The indian restaurant at the Coral Strand has great homemade Naan bread.

Self Catering !: Really want the best deal !

by lifepro

The fish I bought from local fisherman and simply grilled in the oven was a wonderful experience. I paid about 5 dollars for 1 kg of fish. It may be many several fishes bundled up or one big fish such as job fish or red snapper. They cleaned and gave it to me. Very fresh very tasty. If you do not come accross people selling fish by the road , go to Victoria fish market. Do not buy fish prepared and sliced. It is not protected from flies ! But buy a whole fish and have it cleaned there. Parrot Fish

PALM BEACH HOTEL-RESTAURANT/ PRASLIN: CREOL FOOD , not really !!

by lifepro

Simply terrible !! Terrible Breakfast, Terrible dinner(Food is only good in touristic brochures in Seychelles in general. Due to low technology it is not even possible to eat fresh fish in a restaurant. I mean they can not manage logistics to keep fresh fish. In many restaurants there is no differencs between chicken, turkey, fish, or meat. They all are shocked and kept in deep freeze. And have no taste. Follow my tips if you want to go few good and not sky hi priced restaurants.)

Newscafé: Mahé

by Dyesebel

Newscafé is located at the heart of Victoria.I didn't like the food but I like their different flavoured tea drinks (can be served hot or cold).I don't have a picture of this place but what you see there is the view from the café window.

Grand Anse Bar: Fantastic Lunch-time Buffet

by cricketdog

We had a fabulous buffet lunch at the Grand Anse Bar on La Digue during our stay in the Seychelles. It's well worth the bike ride to Grand Anse Beach just to eat here. Be sure and arrive before noon so there's plenty of delicious food left. You will not leave hungry! There was all kinds of meat and fish cooked local style as well as curries, salads, bread, vegetables, rice and noodles. You'll sit on low tables on the sand, in a covered "tiki hut" like atmosphere. I can't remember the exact price but it's somewhere around U.S. $10/person plus tip and drink.

The Pirates Arm: Charming Pirates Arms

by dickiebird

If you remember the bar in the TV show "Tales of a Golden Monkey", you will be able to imagine the charm of this lovely restuarant. The Pirates Arms is THE meeting and eating place in Victoria, Mahe. You will soon become part of the island-style buzz. The restuarant opens up to a main road with whirling fans overhead and casual seating crammed full of locals, sailors and the odd tourist. Live music at 8pm is always entertaining ... make sure you get there early though to secure a seat. I always go for the hamburger at Pirates Arms, just because I am 'fished' out. As a visitor I would recommend one of their daily specials, which usually consists of grilled Red Snapper with Creole sauce and rice ... typical Seychelles cousine.Cheapest beer in town .... go for the Seybrew draught (big one!!)

Almost any in the SEychelles: BEWARE if you don't eat FISH !

by mandy66

Well not true exactly BUT you will have a hard time to find any decent vegetarian food if you are a vegetarian or just don't like fish unless you are staying at a posh hotel (most hotels seem to do buffet style dinners that cater a little better for vegetarians but the are about at least 40 euros per person which is expensive for a plate of vedg or salad !!) if you are not a veggie but just don't like fish you have a little more choice as chicken is often on the menu (although they seem to like to cook it just chopped up bones and all some places) and other meat is available although not everywhere - so if you like your red meat be aware of this... we found a couple of resturants that made pizza or pasta which was fine for a change from fish or an expensive buffet for our dinner but it still wasn't exactly cheap. My husband did like the smoked sailfish although I ate a bit - (mistaking...

Boat House, Beau Vallon Bay, Mahé Island: Creole Buffet

by rainbowsunshine

The Boat House is a real awesome place where you can have a big buffet placed in an old wooden boat with several delicious creole stuff....You should go there in the early evening...it is really good and cheap for the choice you have over there Buffetwith f.e. Avocado salad, Papaya salad

Boat House Restaurant: great Creole food

by Saraviv

Friendly outdoor restaurant off Beau Vallon bay. The buffet opens at 7:30. Lots of fresh salads, creole style fish and dessert. Seems like everyone was there. What suprised me was the mango salad with onions and vinegrette sauce. I never had that combination before, unusual and tasty.
