Baobab Pizzeria: Local flavour and pizza on Beau Vallon

by Saagar

Overdone on sun, sea and sand? Take your break in the shadows of Baobab Pizzeria on Beau Vallon beach.Excellent pizza and other Italian goodies, snacks and ful meals served here. At times it's a rush, and the waiters and bakers seem harassed, but get your hands on a few Seybrews and you'll be fine waiting here a bit for the food. They have sort of funny opening hours - never got my hands around that. It seems to be a lunch restaurant with a lunch break. Never mind, just watch them for the eccentric opening hours for lunch and early dinner. The place is very informal and fee, and the locals apparently love it - my empirical study concludes so. So good food at a good price and right on the beach - with locals. That's one heck of a tourist business concept. Excellent seafood pizza and spaghetti marinara. I am very happy when I get this and no culinary delight may tempt me more after a hard...

Frangipani Terrace Restaurant: Spectacular Buffets

by iwys

The Frangipani Terrace Restaurant at the Plantation Club offers a different themed buffet dinner every night, accompanied by live music. A dinner with a beer or soft drink costs around $50 per head. If you order wine that bill will soar. The buffets really are spectacular and attract local families as well as tourists. I particularly liked the Fisherman's buffet, every Sunday night, and the Asian buffet every Saturday. I think they pull out all of the stops at the weekend.

Tea Plantation and Tavern: Best cup of tea

by kyoub

Stop by the tea factory to see how Seychelles tea is made. Afterward go into the thatched tea tavern to taste vanilla and other flavors of tea. The tavern also sells citronelle or lemon grass. I bought a bag to bring home with me and it was great. There are some nice views from the tavern windows while sipping your tea.

A little restaurant with no...

by wadekorzan

A little restaurant with no name at Grand Anse Beach on island of La Digue...don't worry about the name, if there was one it probably blew away with the wind, and anyway, it is the only restaurant of any kind at this beach.Well...the roof is made of palm leaves, the walls are of palm leaves and cocnut leaves, the floor is well...the beach, hehe...and the seats are made of tree stumps. The tree stumps have been smoothened out so it's not as uncomfortable as you think, and besides, your behind is already sore from riding bikes to get there... Can't remember what we had, but it was excellent. We waited quite awhile for the food and we started to to think they had gone to Madagascar to pick up supplies, but it was worth the wait for the food and the atmosphere alone.

Anse Banane provisions store - La Digue

by Saagar

On the east coast road of La Digue are several shallow reef-protected beaches. Near Anse Banane is a small plantation with breadfruit trees, bananas, coconut trees and many flowers and a profuse bird life. The road passes straight through. The plantation (farm) household here has a small store serving everyday type goods and food items. They also serve drinks, biscuits and sundries to beach-weary travelers who come by. There is a bench and a couple of tables and shade. Just dress up decently and have a seat. This is also a good place to stock up for a limited picnic at the nearby beach(es) or for an around-the-island hike.

Any decent restaurant or eatery: Free restaurant tip - for restaurants

by Saagar

This is a restaurant tip to the cooks of the Seychelles: do something more creative with your squids and octopus!I have noticed two main uses of these wonderful sea creatures:1) Bait for fishing (ouch! What a destiny)2) Octopus salad. Squid, too. Now, what if you knocked this octopus or squid about a few times, hanged it out to dry and soften a little, and then put it whole or in pieces on the grill, the BBQ or the frying pan – even in the wok or deep fry pan?Throw in some lemon; spice it up as dry or sauce curry – or single spice variety - or just naturelle. Crush peppercorns over it, herbal salts, optional lemon sauce, fresh lemon juice or even soy sauce.Eat it like that or add breadfruit chips, potato chips (nnaaaa…), rice and a mellow, not too distinct salad. The restaurant that does this to my palate will get a 5-star review from my side and the cook will immediately have my vote for...

Grand Anse Bar & BBQ?: La Digue's best?

by Saagar

Located in the bushes right behind the Grand Anse beach, it's a coconut tree club: sand for floor, stumps and wooden benches to sit on, palm leaf matting for roof, a great little bar and a simple barbecue kitchen. The lunch for the relatively few visiting beach bums and swimmers is the main business concept: When lunch is over and they run empty on food, the locals and beach stragglers congregate for drinks, snacks and music. The best place to meet locals, perhaps? If you ask staff in the La Digue hotels which is the island's best restaurant, they will ask you back - local Creole food or hotel food? For the locals, this one is apparently the choise., and for good reasons.Uniquely, the restaurant comes with a shower (10 rupees). Fresh hot coals-grilled emperor snapper with creole style sauce - self-explanatory!Cold Seybrew....

La Mare: Seafood at Beau Vallon Beach

by Saagar

Owned by an apparently romantic Italian, this old disco has been rebuilt to a very nice restaurant, right on the sand. An airy, off-white building with indirect lighting give the air of a bit of Italy in the tropics, and that's also reflected in the menu. Focus on good quality seafood, local ingredients. Had several stops by La Mare, for a beer, for a dessert, for a full meal, and they wouldn't snub anyone who came only for a Seybrew and the atmosphere. The the place isn't very pretentious, just that Italian quality touch in the tropical atmosphere, no parasol drinks, only glasses good to the hand. Pleasantly slow service, so you know your food would be freshly and conscientously made, and time for candlelight moods on the beachfront terrace with a dewy Seybrew in hand. This tip substitutes what I would write as tip on "Seychelles Night Life": With the sea breeze, the crashing of the...

The Boathouse, Beau Vallon Beach, Mahe: Don't miss their Creole Buffets

by Sunchild

This restaurant is within the walking distance from Beau Vallon Bay and is always packed . Remember to make a reservation before. It's right at a curve of the main street but - nevertheless, it is really quite cosy. The food is delicious - well - the creole buffet is great! Don't miss it! It's worth the price. Creole Buffet
