Mahé:Natural History Museum

by Dyesebel

Actually I'm not sure if I should post it here or in "tourist traps",there's only few "things" to see here, some of them don't even have descriptions. On the 2nd floor, you'll find fotographs taken by their local artists. And that's it!Entrance fee: 10 SCR

Mahé:Tea Factory

by Dyesebel

We didn't see a lot here because we came in the afternoon, factory tour is only until midday. But they still let us visit the tea packaging. The factory has also shop, where you can buy different tea flavours and/or have a snack in their little café.

Giant Tortoises

by Dyesebel

Most of the resorts and hotels have tortoises but if you want too see them roaming freely on the island and living in the wild, you 'll have to go to Aldabra Island. There you'll find over thousands of tortoises.

Praslin:Vallée de Mai

by Dyesebel

This UNESCO Heritage site is the home to the famous Coco de Mer (coconut of the sea),the seed inside can weigh more than 20kilos,so it's the heaviest and largest seed in the world.Exploring the forest is very easy, the paths are clearly signed and well made. But make sure to bring water, you'll definitely need it.Opening hours 8:00-17:30Entrance Fee: 15 Euros (adult)---to be continued----

Praslin: Beaches

by Dyesebel

There are loads of beautiful and secluded beaches in Praslin. The water is warm and crystal clear. You'll see different species of fish and other marine life.Anse Lazio is probably the most famous beach thereAnse La Blague is almost deserted because this part of the island isn't known yet,the sea is very calm compare to Anse Lazio. When we came here,we saw only local people swimming or having picnic here, there were no tourist except us;) no we are not tourists,we are travellers;)Cote d' Or,well,no doubt, the place is awesome except for some annoying locals asking if you want to change Euros to Rupees because as they said, they have better rate than the banks. We were warned about these type of people, some of them might be thieves, they're just waiting for the right moment to steal your things, specially while you're away swimming. No wonder, there are quite a few civilian police around the beach.

Praslin: Fishing

by Dyesebel

You can fish here anytime and anywhere you like, you don't even need a license;) So for hobby fisher, this place is heaven. My husband did it day and night. He was so obsessed that he would even get up early if he's got new ideas for catching fish.He caught many but we only kept 2,one is a crocodile needle fish, almost 1m long, the other one is blue fin(forgot the name). He put the small ones back to where they belong;)

Vallée de Mai on Praslin

by iammon

A must thing to do on Praslin: Walk around in the UNESCO world heritage listed Vallée de Mai. There you will find the famous coco de mer palms and lots of other kinds of palms like: Latanier palm, Vacoa Parasol, Vacoa de rivière. The coco de mer palm is famous for its erotic nuts (from the female tree) which can be up to 20 kg. The species is said to be more than 1000 years old. You can do different walks in the park. You can do loops that take app. 1 hour or if you do them all it will take up to 4 hours. With your entrance ticket you will get a map and signs indicate the different loops. Entrance is 15 Euros. You will be able to spot some wildlife as well. Watch out for the Perroquet noir (black parrot) which only exists on Praslin. As on the beaches you will find nice granite rock formations as well in the forest. Park opens at 8 till 5:30. There is a little gift shop and kiosk which...

Sister Island and Coco Island

by iammon

From La Digue take a day trip to Sister Island and Coco Island for some great snorkling. They will serve you lunch (Fresh barbecued fish! Very yummy!) on Sister Island and you will have time to explore the island which is very beautiful as all the others as well.... Trips can be booked at the jetty or at the tourist information.

Snorkeling at St. Pierre Island

by iammon

Very nice snorkeling spot for a few hours. Lots of fish and some turtles. Sea is a bit rough but if you get tired you can rest on the Islands rocks. Be aware of lizards trying to steal your stuff! :-)You can combine this snorkeling trip with a visit on Curieuse Island.
