Curieuse Island

by iammon

If you staying on Praslin, Anse Volbert, do not miss out in taking a boat trip to Curieuse Island. It hosts a little turtle hatchery and a nice nature walk (bring a drink) and you will end up on Jose Beach one of my favourite spots in the water on the Seychelles. As water is cristal clear and deep for a change.

Enjoying beaches

by Mara_2

It should be the main thing to do!They are so incredibly beautiful that you cannot choose and we just kept going from one another! There are so many of them and one is more beautiful than another, but, after having seen them all, you will be enable to say which one is the most beautiful! When we saw them we realized that the post-card pictures of the most perfect tropical beach must have been shot in the Seychelles!

Hike to Anse Major

by dickiebird

Some excursions offer a hike to Anse Major as part of their package, I would recommend you rather do the hike on your own. It is an easy hike and very accessible. The hike itself is beautiful, the black granite rocks, bright green foliage and turquoise sea is your backdrop to what may be the only form of physical exercise you will get on your vacation. To start the hike, drive North along the coastal road from Beau Vallon through Bel Ombre. Go past the La Scala restaurant and continue as the road becomes a single track. The road forks, take the right fork and continue until it ends. Your hike starts here and is about an hour. You will be rewarded with the prettiest beach, which can only be reached via this path. If you choose any other day but Sunday to hike, you may find yourself the only occupants. On Sundays the locals enjoy their picnics and arrive by fishing boat or via the trail.

Swim / Snorkle at Anse Lazio

by dickiebird

A must do on your travels to the Seychelles is a visit to the most beautiful beach in the world, Anse Lazio on Praslin. Anse Lazio is on the North-West tip of Praslin, in Chevalier Bay.It is a beautiful secluded, sandy beach with spectacular granitic rocks embracing it. The sand is so fine and white and the sea clear and blue - a wonderful spot for some good photographs. There are two eating places just off the beach, Bonbon Plume is an eat-in-the-sand restaurant offering creole food and the other, Chevalier Bay Restaurant is a a more sophisticated eating house, which also has a boutique attached selling the usual souvenirs and bathing suitsTo get there, you can either catch a bus (3 Rupees) that drops you off about 1 km from the beach. The walk is up a steep hill and down again (meaning the walk back is also up and down). I would rather catch a taxi, or arrange for one to pick you up,...

BellyBoarding in Beau Vallon

by SusanitaL

One of the many water sports you can do in this lovely beach is bellyboarding for only 25rupees for 2 hours. Its fun and the waves are good. There are other sports like snorkling and diving, also those water motors? whats it called that costs about 40 euro for 15 mins. too expensive!

Visit Zimbabwe

by roxane&jose

Rent a car and drive up to Zimbabwe (naturally not the one in Africa...unless ofcourse you LIKE dictators). Zimbabwe is the highest point on Praslin island and you can see all around the island. Don't even think about renting a bicycle...not even Lance armstrong could do it!

See the black pearls & giant clam farm

by roxane&jose

Here you can see black pearls (admittedly they are more gun-metal grey) as well as a touch farm including a 45 year old clam, a cushion starfish and a 7 year old lobster. CAUTION: Don't get clever & try put your finger inside the clams as they will take your finger off...thank God we don't speak from experience but that is what we were told.

Excursions are a must!!

by dickiebird

The excursions here aren't cheap, but they cannot be compared to the cheaper excursions you get on the Carribean Islands or Mexico. Remember when you sign up for a day trip in the Seychelles, you can be assured it won't be crowded. When we went on a 2 island, marine park excursion we got so much more than what we paid for. The group was tiny, only 5 of us looked after by 2 staff. They were extremely accommodating and stopped at 2 island to allow us to explore, took us to 2 areas in the marine park for snorkelling and arranged a wonderful creole lunch for us on Moyenne Island.

Enjoy the local festivals

by Fabanna

We found ourselves at this festival by chance, and we were the only tourists!!! The food was great, and the atmosphere also, with ladies weaving handbags and hats out of banana leaves....everything happy and colorful

A day trip to Cousine, the bird island

by Fabanna

The special bird reserve of Cousine island is something amazing....an intact island of white sand not touched by man...it is possible to visit it only with organized trips..it is really worth. You cannot bearly speak because you are literally overwhelmed by birds birds and birds singing, chattering, as loud as you have ever heard. This is the bird's kingdom!!The island is occupied also by lizards, gecos and giant tortoises. There is one or two guides living there for a season, and showing visitors around
