Car Hire

by Dyesebel

There are plenty of car hire companies in Mahé and Praslin, prices are all the same.In Praslin, most of the hire cars are brand new,it costs 50 Euro a day with full insurance.Ask for a discount if you're planning to hire the car for several days.In Mahé,the car we rented wasn't good as the one in Praslin but it was very economical. We hired it from the airport and paid 40 Euro a day with full insurance.

Mahe International Airport

by MikeAtSea

Mahe International Airport is the gateway to the Seychelles. All international flights both scheduled and chartered land here. There are two terminals one inernational and one for domestic inter island flights. A duty free zone and a bar and restaurant offer services in the international terminal and a small shop allow purchases in the domestic terminal.

Mahé to Praslin Island

by iammon

There is a fast inter island ferry (about one hour) called the Cat Cocos. However it is almost the same price as flying (Air Seychelles about 15 minutes). Therefore I highly recommend to fly as you will have marvelous views from the plane! Only if you have a lots of luggage it might be a better option to take the ferry.

Air Seychelles

by MikeAtSea

The national airline of the Seychelles does not appear to operate a regular schedule of flights. Both the inbound and outbound international flight departed late and from discussions with the tour operator this is a regular occurrence. Residents and guests should be warned if they choose to fly with this airline, since the outbound delay resulted in me missing my onward flight and meant an overnight in Johannesburg. In case of delays and changes in schedule the airlines airport staff is most incompetent in dealing with the situation. Inter Island flights also have to be treated with caution. Air Seychelles keeps changing the schedule according to load factor and the scheduled flight may not operate at all. Inner Island flights also are not air-conditioned making the aircraft to resemble a steam bath. Schedule checks with the airline do not bear any fruits since communication is as...

Transportation Tip 2 on La Digue

by iammon

If you do not want to rent a bike or if you are on La Digue for just a day and do not want to walk to Anse Source D'Argent you have the opportunity to use the ''other island transportation''. They will wait for you at the jetty whenever a boat arrives.

Transportation La Digue

by iammon

There is only one way to explore la Digue: Biking!Rent a bike for the whole time you staying there. This allows you very easyly to change beaches during the day following the tides. All the bikes have a basket where you can put your belongings. Most Guesthouses rent bikes or you can rent one at the jetty. Prices are more or less the same.

La Digue Via Bicycle

by cricketdog

I think one of our most fun days in the Seychelles was tooling around La Digue on a bicycle. We saw most of the island in one day and covered all of the high points -- Grand Anse, Source d'Argent, Belle Vue and Anse Fourmis. You can rent a bicycle and get to all three major areas of the island in one day and you won't need to rush.Be sure to time your travels right so you can stop at Grand Anse Bar for a wonderful lunch-time buffet.

Bicycles, Busses, Cars & Kayaks

by roxane&jose

Inter Island flightThe inter island flight from Mahe to Praslin was pleasant but on the way back we encountered some turbulence which was not fun. Car - 55 euros / day or 60 dollars / dayCars have very small engines but perform well due to the altitudeThe roads are so narrow that in many places obly one car can pass by at a timeBuss - around 3 rupees for a trip from Baie Ste Anne to Cote D'or. The buss comes every 4 hours we were told Bicycle - 15 euros for 2 bikes per dayCan be rented at Ilse Des palmesDon't bother, the island is too hillyKayak - 10 euros for a full day & 5 euros for a half dayCan be rented at Ilse Des palmesVery pleasant to do in the late afternoon due to beautiful sun sets

blue seychelles bus service

by dickiebird

Absolutely must experience the bus ride from Beau Vallon into Victoria, remember to sit on the right hand side, this way you don't get to see down the cliff!!Experience Seychelles with the locals, and it only cost three rupees. The local seychellois are wonderful people, but don't believe in queueing ... so don't be offended if they push in front of you.

Take the local bus !!

by labaronesa

We took the local bus around the island. The same bus goes around and around it goes by every 30 mins and stops a lot. 7:10pm is the last bus you can take for the day from Victoria. After that, you need to take a taxi which costed me 200 rupees (US$40.00) from Victoria to my hotel which was the Plantation resort (45 mins) drive. Riding the bus is a nice way to see the island and see the people. The local bus is only 3 rupees. The seats fit 3 people and on the other side 2 people so when is getting full they squeeze you if you are sitting alone in a 2 seat. Specially at pick times when the students are getting off school and people from work. The island has many mountains so the roads are curved and some times the bus drivers go on the roads like they are going on a straight line....zassss!!! It was difficult not to ignore it.
