Also an instrument named the Balafon is very often found in West African music, such as Yiri. There are String instruments found throughout the region. often made of what is available to be made out of so cans

    Paddy's or Boogies: Nightfighters

by DonnyR Written Sep 29, 2005

The night life is very good and the dancing even better. Because of the level of poverty there are many women that work the tourists. The local slang for them amongst internationals is "Nightfighters." It is important to be aware of them and spurn their advances. If you want trouble don't. Make sure you go with a group of friends and don't be flashing cash all over the place. If you follow those rules you will have a great time when you are out. The people watching in these places is incredible. I've never experienced anything like it. Paddy's has a great Chicken and Rice plate. The beer is cheap and the atmosphere better.

Well, it doesn't really have any unique qualities. It's just an open sided structure with a designated area called a dance floor, many tables and chairs of differing designs (no two are quite the same), and cold beers. The professional ladies prowl the grounds, so be careful what you drink.

Paddy is an old Brit who has been in Africa forever. Paddy and his wife are always looking for a game of bridge. I understand that it's the place to be for professional networking.

The steak pie was good. I was told that the row of slot machines pays out 90%, which seems pretty good.
