Money Changer by Adam911 While visiting, bring as much cold hard American Dollars as possible. As there are no ATM's and hotels and restaurants dont except credit cards. It's is very easy to exchange Dollars for Somali/Somaliland Shillings. BUT you will end up with bags of of cash to carry around. Not a good idea. Exchange rates as of April 26, 2003. 1.00 USD =20,100 Somalia Shilling 1.00 USD = 6,400 Somaliland Shilling Leave a Comment

Galkacyo city home by Adam911 Have an open mind. Dont believe everything you once saw on CNN. If you do this You will thoroughly enjoy your trip. Also you must visit the old city of Amoud. It has existed for hundreds of years, with a unique people and culture. Included is photo of a local home.
The People. Go out of your way to meet as many local people as possible. They are some of the most generous and pleasant on Earth. Leave a Comment

by Omar64 Be open minded and enjoy your stay. Even though some places in the south are feuding, somalis welcome all visitors to their homeland. Don't listen to people that say stay away from Somalia, because not all of Somalia is still feuding.
Well my fondest memory I would have to say is the kindness of the people of the Horn of Africa. People will go out of their way to accomodate you even if you are a non-Somali. Leave a Comment

I don't know that I'd go there right now. It seems to still be in some turmoil.
People, people, people. Everyone I met could not have been nicer. When the place went nutty after my last visit, I felt bad for all those who had befriended me. Incredible scale of accommodation levels.

Bosaso city by Adam911 Somalia has not been commercialized. There aren't that many tourists and you have the whole country to yourself(almost).
