SOUTH AFRICA BOTSHABELO VILLAGE

Favorite thing: Some old agricultural machines on show. And cows roaming free.
To get to the Ndebele Village (5 minute walk) you have to cross a bridge. One of the bulls decided to cross as well at a hurling speed as it had seen a cow getting attention from another bull.
It seemed like the bull galloped right at me and I hid behind a tree, scared to death and squeaking "help!".

SOUTH AFRICA NDEBELE WOMEN

Favorite thing: These women were sitting in the old little mining town called Pelgrim's Rest.

If you ask and pay a little, you can sit between them and have someone make a picture. They sit in front of a big souvenir shop.

Monkey

Favorite thing: Really must watch out with these cheeky ones. They are all over the place. On our car, for instance.

SOUTH AFRICA MISSION POST

Favorite thing: On arriving you find yourself at a mission post with a little museum, a small restaurant and outbuildings. It is a short walk to the Ndebele village.

SOUTH AFRICA NDEBELE WOMEN

Favorite thing: One thing that was significant is that the women maintain the village. I saw no men around. They speak English well and just keep on laughing.

I suppose I will have to read up on the culture as I have forgotten it. For instance: why the colours and the patterns? Why do the women shave their heads? And why in fact, there are no men...
