Luggage and bags: You can either carry your backpack yourself, or for a fee have it taken to the next stop, while you just carry a day pack. I suggest the latter - it increases flexibility on the route tremendously.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Be prepared for rain in winter. The route is not too steep or difficult... I did it in a good pair of sneakers.
There is opportunity for some (cold!) swimming along the route.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: The huts ONLY have kettles, make sure to carry pots and cooking utensils. Gas cooking plates are supplied.
Miscellaneous: Take a snorkel!
