Favorite thing: Attractions include stunning beaches and warm water, a full variety of watersports (including world class surfing and sailing), quality golf courses, historical trails, a variety of Eco-walks and attractions, many annual festivals and welcoming locals. Less than an hour from the coast, one is able to view the Big Five in a malaria-free area which boats a unique bio-diversity , or ramble through the agricultural valleys to sample their hospitality and local fare. The numerous hunting farms of these areas are also a comfortable drive from the coast.

EAST LONDON BEACH.

Favorite thing: The small coastal resort of Kidd;s Beach lies south - west of East London,32 kilometres
down an all weather road.

The town was named after Charles Kidd, who was a mayor of nearby King williams"town in the 1860's.

There is a tidal pool and a beach at the mouth of the river .

A great variety of fish can be caught along the many kilometres of rock formations.

Kidd's Beach is safe for bathing, and holiday shacks can be hired at nearby Palm Springs.

Favorite thing: East London is situated at the mouth of the Buffalo River and is South Africa's only major riverport. It is a city with a small-town atmosphere and endless beaches, including Nahoon and Kidds Beach. Visitors can enjoy walks and trails, fishing, surfing and sailing as well as excellent hotels and restaurants. The abundance of nineteenth-century architecture adds charm to the city as does the South African and international art that can be viewed in many of the museums and galleries such as the East London Museum and the Ann Bryant Gallery. The various gardens, including the Queen's Park Botanical Gardens, and nearby game reserves are popular with nature lovers. The Strelitzia, also known as the crane flower, is indigenous to this area.
