 | Johannesburg Restaurants | Tips 31 - 40 of 95 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (95) I have been quite a few times, it is a favoured steakhouse chain in South Africa. They are a slightly upmarket chain, where the food is good quality and service just fine. It is a tad expensive here, but you will have a good meal. Guaranteed.
One particular occasion stands out. It was my sister’s birthday and she had invited 18 people along to celebrate. Of the 18 people, 14 decided to have pork spare ribs!!! They are reknown for their ribs and so I guess we weren’t too surprised. The funny thing was, when we had all finished our ribs (and they were large racks, that bent up a bit), prior to the waitron retrieving the empty plates, we took a photo… of 14 plates along this long table, with lots of empty ribs! We looked like a bunch of ferocious carnivores! Other dishes are also good, but ribs are a personal favourite here. Leave a Comment

Yet another family favourite. You know what you will be getting and it’s not pricey. It is brightly coloured, fresh and funky! Service is merely okay, nothing fantastic in our general experience. But as we usually pop by here for a dessert, not a meal, it is not worth complaining about.
If you are feeling like a waffle, then this is the place to come! They are yummy, crispy, with generous dollops of cream or ice cream. They pop other bits and pieces on the waffle too, like peppermint crisp bits. Absolutely yummy, albeit fattening! So I never had any this last time, only hubby did. I had a good cup of strong coffee though! Leave a Comment Theme: Ice CreamPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: All over the country!

We were feeling a tad hungry after spending the last 4 hours gallivanting on all the rides at Gold Reef City. We were soaked through, having gone on a few water rides. The sun was beating down though at 34 degrees celcius, and we would dry quickly. We popped into this little pub restaurant for a quick bite to eat... One thing we noticed on our recent trip to South Africa was the superb service offered at places, especially when one compares the service at London restaurants and the service at South African ones. It is far better in South Africa. The lady who served us here was a local Afrikaans lady who was so polite and helpful. She took her job seriously and tried hard. She deserved her excellent tip!
We didn’t expect much to be honest, and the food we had, although very simple and plain in presentation, was above our expectations! The burgers we had were tasty with good beef patties, and the salad was fresh and crispy, just the way I like it! Leave a Comment

Our South African friends always come to say goodbye to their guests at the Flying Fox at Johannesburg Airport. It's a good meeting point either when you come in or go out of SA. -- Suitcase filled with biltong, droë wors and a Zulu shield! Leave a Comment Theme: Pub/BreweryAddress: Johannesburg Airport

Your in three Major city of Africa, so all taste are catered for, my favourite was Ma Cusine in Parktown North, original owner sold new management is unknown to me. My ethnic palate takes me to the Cyrildene Derek St mini Chinatown Eateries, 2 blocks east of Bruma Lake, off Queen Street All are owned my recent immigrants from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, so the food served is as good as where they come from

We went to this great italian restaurant while I was there...I don't know what its real name was..the people I was staying with called it Luci's as that was the name of the owner. This will be of no help at all as I can't even remember where it was.... Anyway, the owner was this mad wee old man and had me laughing just about the whole time I was there...totally taking the rip out of the fact that I am scottish....just a nice memory, that is all! Joburg (like the rest of SA) has no shortage of restaurants and overall food is of a very good quality. Prices are predominantly VERY reasonable by European standards and SA is also an ecellent producer of Wine. Great restaurants can pretty much be found anywhere but obvious places to look are Hotels, Shopping areas and the countryside. Here are a few of my personal Joburg favourites (all price categories): The whole of Mellvile area is loaded with interesting cafes and restaurants, Norwood - tons of places on Grant Avenue, Parkhurst - slightly more upmarket with some excellent choices, Moyo, Colour Bar, The Singing Fig, Yum, Sandton, Icon, Greenside, Illovo, Rosebank etc.
