Photo Equipment: When in Pretoria, just make sure you do have a camera as there are so many things to take photos of. The most beautiful scene I saw was down Church St which is lined with Jackoranda trees. For those who don't know what they are, they are beautiful trees with purple flowers...very pretty! By the way, Christopher Columbus took these trees to South Africa, or so they say!

Summer in Pretoria runs from October to end of February and it can get VERY warm (upper 20's Celsius) during these months - low humidity. Summer is rainy season and a whole day's rain (water) normally falls in one minute - we get real heavy thunder and lightning storms!
Although the weather is very even, it can also get cold during winter - we do not know snow!!
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring something along for stomach problems - just in case!
We have many pharmacies that are open till late at night and also many 24 hour medical facilities with doctors. If you have a problem to get a pharmacy, the pharmacy at the Eugene Marais hospital is open 23 hours per day and only closes from 5-6 in the morning.(Phone 334 2777 and ask for pharmacy)
If you are prone to sun burn, bring some ointment along in summer, the sun is really hot!
Photo Equipment: No problem here but do not walk with your camera over your shoulder, etc. It will be stolen.
