Travelbuddy tip

by nora_south_africa

A network linking every person involved in the tourism industry via cellphone and email has been launched called Travelbuddy. The aim of Travelbuddy is to assist and protect tourists in conjunction with the South African Police Services during their visit to South Africa, http://www.satravelbuddy.co.za/This is how it works: before leaving their home country, tourists register for free on the Travel Buddy website, providing their itinerary details. When they arrive in South Africa, they buy a local SIM card for their cell phone (or a hired phone), contact Travel Buddy and get a phone number to use in emergencies. Throughout a visitor's stay, someone will call or send a text message asking how things are going. The tourists are given an international tourist call centre number, and receive regular SMSs. Travel Buddy monitors tourists' movements throughout their trip, provides them with...

Port Elizabeth was our finale to our South Africa trip and it was such a sweet way to end it all.You have the beach.., the beautiful breezes and oh yes the casino. The whole casino area is surrounded by small restaurants The people of South Africa are some of the most friendly and welcoming people I have ever encountered.

Wait a Little horse safari

by traveller21

South Africa is such a large country you can not really generalise. It has so many different things to do and to see, there is something for everyone, whether you are a active adventurous type or a family with children. My favorite is the horse safari I went on in 2004 it was worth everything! I have travelled to South Africa before and done the typical tourist things, Kruger park, table top mountain etc.. But never was I able to get so close to the animals and just watch them carry on with their normal business. They saw the horses as fellow pray and just carried on eating or playing. We were able to get within 2m of a giraffe, and cheetah. The guide Phillip was fantastic knowing the Bush off the back of his hand and knowing the answer to any question asked. The reserve it self also has a research centre this enabled us to help track the animals and understand some of their behaviour...

What Africa is all about

by CDNgirl

Get out of the city and GO SEE THE ANIMALS!!!! Its what people come to Africa for. Our first night of game drive it was raining, but we didn't care. It was actually a really good thing, since I got a little teary as we sat and watch a leopard and her cub. I couldn't help but think how lucky I am, and what a priviledge it is to be in South Africa, to see and experience all that I have been blessed with. my pair of cheetah cubs that I got sooooo attached to in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.
