Well, there's actually 13 of the mountain peaks they call Apostles, but who's really counting?? Anyways, this is yet another breathtaking place in the Cape that should not be missed! The water is an amazing azure colour and the sand is as white as it can get without being snow...apparently this area and it's beauty and charm have attracted the likes of Oprah, Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson and other celebrities who have bought lavish homes. Sit on the grass and have a picnic lunch or brave the ice-cold blue waters and take a dip at the beach! Remember, there are NO private beaches allowed in South Africa, so park yourself in a great spot and enjoy the scenes.

You'll never forget the seals...or the smell!! Seal Island is an amazing anomoly - only bachelor seals inhabit this tiny group of islands and no one really knows why. I just loved how the bopped their heads out of the water with their cute faces and big black eyes. They swim, sunbathe, snort and smell really bad if you get on the wrong side of the wind! However, I highly recommend the trip out there (a Hout Bay cruise will take you there) as they are a joy to behold!

The Hout Bay pier is a pretty touristy place with lots of local vendors selling some over-priced goods and feature bands of singers dressed in vibrantly coloured costumes and make up. However, once you get onto a boat to set out to explore the Bay, it is well worth it!! Hout Bay has beautiful waters and breathtaking views of high cliffs and mountain sides.

A leisurely cycle down to Cape Point can be an exhilerating experience. The wind is cool and refreshing and it's nice to enjoy the views while you stop and take some photos. My cycling was done during my Cape Penninsula tour with Baz Bus, but there are a number of companies that do them too.

The Cape of Good Hope is the South-Western most tip of Africa. It was so surreal to be there and I had a hard time grasping how far away I was from home - and just how close I was the bottom of the......
