Favorite thing: When going to Hankey, contact Gloria Nashangoane at the Tourism office. She is a woman of many talents and will take you inder her wing while you are staying in Hankey. For a small fee, she and her husband Richard will higher a driver and take you too all the sights in Hankey. They'll take you into the townships too experience whateve is going on at the time. She is a sangoma (a Xhosa diviner) and trains a very talented dance troup. You will me adopted into her family, as she and her children spend their free time with you.
Fondest memory: I ended up spending a weekend in Hankey on accident. Initially I was only going to spend the day in order to see the Sarah Baartman funeral. I ended up staying for a full weekend, living with Gloria and her family. I got to go on some hikes and a tour of the country side. I went to the ceremony marking the one year anniversery of the death of their friend's father. It was amazing.
