At the entrance to the old Harbour you will notice the cannons and memorial and one of the names on the roll of honour ?Roger Bushell? was immortalized by Steve McQueen in ?The Great Escape?. A lovely place to eat your sandwich whilst taking in the unspoilt view

This natural harbour is often the focal point of village activities i.e. at Easter they have a passion play and before Christmas they produce a nativity play. The cliff top entrance to the harbour offers you a fantastic panoramic view of Walker Bay. Sometimes you might even spot the odd whale coming to scratch himself against the harbour wall.

Hermanus is known for it's whales, with a whale-crier and all but even without the whales Hermanus is a beautiful town with the best coastline I've ever seen. Not much of a beach. Just a few km away to Onrus and Kleinmond there are beaches if you really need one. But the views in Hermanus is just amazing. Don't miss it!!!!

Wonderful situation overlooking Hermanus and the Klein River Lagoon. Great selection of Cape flora especially fynbos. It's is a really nice place to walk around and take in the surroundings and scenery.

Shark Diving! Ever thought of getting in the water with Great White Sharks!? Well, you can at Hermanus. There are several ways of doing it. Either organise it yourself or book through a hostel. I booked mine through Mobys hostel. It cost 700 rand for the shark dive, breakfast, lunch and a nights accomodation. After the dive they wanted another 200rand for the one hour transfer to the boat which they never told us about when we booked so we refused to pay it! The dive itself was a joke, the crew wouldnt let us in the cage as 'it will scare the shark off'. When we got back on land,we heard the same excuse from other operators but other operators had put their cages in the water. It is a great experience seeing these feared creatures up close but wouldve been so much better to be under the water. The trip takes about 4 hours.
I have not yet heard a bad word about Brian Macfarlene, so if you can, book direct with him. He is very professional and I never heard of his cage not going in, Im not sure how much he charges but if you really want to get close then hes your best bet.
