Getting some groceries b4 heading to the shops!

You want anything surfer wise you come to JBay to get it!
This tiny town has more surfer shops than anything else I think!
You have the standard shops and you have the factory outlets selling last seasons items at ridiculously low prices - in fact I bought something in the Billabong factory outlet that was still for sale in one of the standard surf shops for double the price.

So pretty much anything you want and need you can get - Quiksilver, Billabong and Roxy are the main stores here.

As I already said, I don't surf and after a few tedious days of walking the same shopping routes I decided that I needed to do something different.
I read in my guide book that there was an aquarium here and so Matt and I trot off to the rather unexciting Jeffreys Bay Aquarium.

It was cheap entrance fee, a short drive out of town, quite busy with other tourists, but quite small and basic - it did however, make for a good afternoon.

The aquarium as I said is pretty small, and it is all in one room which you see as soon as you go in there.
You can see the rockhopper penguins, leopards and pjama sharks, a stingray and many other species along with lots of informative notices about each creature you view.

Surfing is a popular activity here, you can hire or/and buy your board and wetsuit in town.
Lessons are easily arranged through several outfits in town, including almost every hostel here!
The surf here is great - it's world famous and so that is why the flocks come here. After a good surf, some great shopping it's time to hit the bars which are as you can imagine always cranky too!

Boardwalk to JBay

Jeffreys Bay beach is a nice beach, when we were there in December which is the start of the summer, the wind was strong and the seas were cold.
We were quite happy strolling along the beach and collecting shells.
The sea here isn't ideal for swimming, being a surfers beach the waves are too high and the current too strong.
From where we were staying the walk to the beach was an easy one, just down the side of our accommodation on a wooden boardwalk and we were on the sands.

SURFING

This is definitely the most favourite place for surfers! If you are not a surfer, or the girlfriend of a surfer, there is not to much to do there.

stay at the island vibe .It's the best hostel in town.
It's at the beach and the staff organizes some activities to entertain the people who are not surfers, like for example a township tour or horse riding.
The hostel is also a good view spot to see dolphins on the evening.

At the Kabeljous Area in the northern part of the town, nature lovers can enjoy hikes through the indigenous fynbos, with its evocative scent. The Seekoei River Nature Reserve also offers short hikes and the opportunity to visit the Penguin Rehabilitation Canter. Both reserves as well as the Noorsekloof Nature Reserve offer good bird watching opportunities.

Jeffrey's Bay is the ideal base from which to explore the wide variety of attractions that this unexplored, fascinating region has to offer. These include the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, a variety of game farms, a bird sanctuary and much more

This is me on Jeffrey's Bay. The beach was deserted, but the picture is quite cool. A storm was coming, and it rained like I've never seen before on the next morning.
