Kalk Bay is a great place for antiques: a kilometre of antique and junk shops guaranteed to keep the most hardened shopaholic occupied for days on end. Most antique shops also have a good selection of second-hand books (especially Quagga, next to Cafe Matisse).
The shop on the next corner has a fair number of Clarice Cliff porcelain,and at prices you won't see in Europe!

Kalk Bay is really not short of antique dealers, but this junk shop is probably the best of the lot. It has just about everything, and much of it from my childhood bedroom by the looks of it:
What to buy: Matchbox cars, matchboxes, old advertising hoardings, books, magazines, old records, porcelain, old bottles. You could spend a week browsing through the bric-a-brac, blowing off the dust and cooing over the absurdly low prices.
What to pay: If you buy anything, you can admire it over drinks and lunch at the Kalk Bay Expresso or Caf? Sirocco next door.
