Night time adventures...

by Tsakane

I took the chance to go to the movies, or rather I was taken to a movie theatre in Hillbrow by a Zairean friend... Well, I was told by the white that this was one of the most stupid things a white girl could ever do. But then, if you are affraid of everything, what are you going to see???

Zeta Bar: Night out in Morningside

by ashley05p

This is a very trendy bar. Drinks are average priced (8-15 ZAR). Great place to meet people and have a wonderful time. There is a special room on the side that opens on the weekends with red velvet couches, disco balls, djs, two bars, outside dining, and flat screen tvs featuring runway shows throughout the night. I would recommend going on Friday or Saterday, but for a more calm, relaxed night, Wednesdays are good too. Nice attire; not too casual, not formal

Montecasino: Casino's

by antz

OK, the first time I went into a casino was in South Africa. But this place was the most amazing casino I have ever been in! It is completely decked out as a tuscan village (with even the washing strung out above your head as you pass through the streets!) I am not a gambling person, but even I had to have a shot on the slot machines! Inside you can play the tables or the machines, have dinner, a drink or go shopping! Well, not sure but I got in with jeans on!

Cape Town docks: The docks

by africaking

I hear the Cape Town docks have had a new lease of life, not for shipping but for tourists, my dad used to work there when it was dirty and full of workers. They have bars and restaurants there and seems to be one of the good tourist places to go now. Hav'nt heard of any, but best to go smart, casual.

In the bush....: Braai's and Red Bull

by jenniferhen

I loved that every single evening was another reason to fire up the braai and open a few bottles of wine. (Occasionally the red bull and vodka too! Yikes!!) I loved how social the South Africans were and the stories told over the braai or fire are amoung my best memories! Bug spray and a beer.

LONG STREET & MORE: CAPETOWN NIGHTLIFE

by IIGUANA

Long Street is the place to be if you want to party in Capetown. It has different pubs, discos and places to eat something quick. Just walk around and go inside the place you find the best for you. No coat required, but capetonians do like to dress to go out. A shirt and jeans it's ok. Don't even think of going out with shorts and tank tops. Either you won't meet anyone or you won't be able to go inside the pubs.

Boston Tea Party: Pretoria Nightlife

by IIGUANA

This place is quite small, but it has good music. It's next to a bar, wher you can go to have a bite and a few beers. Quite close to the Menlyn Mall, it's worth going. Try a shirt and jeans. You'll never get it wrong this way!

Courtyard at Cat & Moose: Making New Friends

by ronaldpk

Long Street has lots of interesting bars and restaurants. The most popular bar is called Jo'burg ( beer R9.00) with very eclectic music and dance floor. We also loved the famous Lola's Cafe with great African curry dish and stoned waiters ( always high when serving customers!).However, we spent most of our evenings at our hostel chatting with our new friends, especially the "Swaaziland girls" from various European countries studying in Swaaziland and our new friend from U.K. Casual
