Buzzin with cheap beer!

by littlebush

If you dont feel safe going out at night, most hostels have at least a bar(some just have a fridge with beer) and a common room so you can have fun in the hostel. Cape Town has awesome nightlife! South africans are very relaxed with their dress codes, no need to pack your best clubbing gear. Trainers, jeans and a t-shirt is fine!

I cannot remember now, but go see Robin Auld somewhere between Muizenburg and Fishhoek. This guy is a very talented musician/song writer. You will see his name on a sign stating, 'Robin Auld'If you like music, song writing, and live music Robin Auld is a must. He will capture you with his lyrics. Surf trunks a t-shirt and money for some beer and chips (french fries).

I've heard that there are very good clubs where local groups play good jazz. Most of them are black (yes, there is still segregation in South Africa), so go with your black South African friends, otherwise you may have problems. I regret having had to leave the day before I could be taken to one of those clubs.

In Central Cape Town its Long Street - anything outside this is COMPLETELY deserted after dark. Think of your home city after an outbreak of smallpox, followed by a sarin gas attack to finish off the survivors. Even the homeless people disappear when the sun goes downMix of people and cultures makes it unique Casual

Drum Café: African night

by annieruel

The Drum Cafe is great for the people who like to play drum (live). There is a professionnal who play sometimes.Le Drum Cafe est bien pour les gens qui aime jouer du drum (sur place). Il y a un professionnel qui joue quelques fois aussi.

Not something you would expect, but the night we have spend at Kagga Kamma ,we considered as the most beautifull way to spend the night. The environment overthere, between the animals, and the fact that we were the only 2 people that night, made it very special for us. Shorts and t-shirt.

by LAOWAI

Climb Lionhead or Signal hill or Table Mountain in Cape Town and watch the sunset from up there. Of course, you can take a car or cable car up Signal and Table, but not Lion Head. I think it's called Lion Head. Nice view. Check it out.If you see this guy- his name is Nick- and if you mention my name he'll take you around and tell you loads of useful information. BUT NO ONE KNOWS THE POPLULATION DIVERSITY OF BLACKS AND WHITES SO DON'T BOTHER.

by B_Caro

At almost all our lodgings there was a braai (southafrican for barbeque) available. So most of the time we had a 'braai'.Sometimes together with our temporary neighbours sometimes just among us, with a good glass of wine (the south-african wines are good !!!).
