To my eye, the stretch of the Cape coastline between Gordon's Bay and Pringle Bay is incredibly beautiful - maybe because I'm not much of a 'beach' person and have always enjoyed rugged shorelines with lots of rockpools to poke around.

For me, one of the nicest things about Pringle Bay is that the succulent strandveld vegetation extends all the way down to the sea shore - in many other parts of the Cape, the vegetation of the coastal fringe is scrubby and unattractive.
The colour contrast between the vibrant green of the vegetation and the deep blue of the sea is very photogenic, and the plants themselves are fascinating. Intersperse this with a pictureque rock or two, and your photo is composed!

Pringle Bay is a beautiful and very photogenic place, and judging by other people's holiday snaps, seems to spawn a disproportionate number of favourite holiday snaps. Maybe one reason why I decided to share one of mine here? :)
A lot has to do with the combination of rocky outcrops and sandy beaches, set against a backdrop of rugged mountains that encroach down onto the coastline with its stark contrast of sapphire blue water and white foam. There is also something about the clarity of the light, but only being a happy snapper, I don't know enough about the technicalities to venture a reason for why that might be the case.
On a more practical note, may I draw your attention to the bottle of sunscreen perched on the rock? This part of the coastline is quite exposed, so there's usually some sort of breeze blowing (if not something stronger). Under such conditions, the coolness of the wind tends to distract your attention, and it's very easy to get burned, to be sure to apply sunscreen and keep reapplying it at regular intervals.

Whatever possessed someone to build the infamous Pringle Bay 'igloos' - let alone in a setting this beautiful - I'll never know, but hideous or not, they have become a local landmark.
Although they were white when we last visited, I have seen pictures of them painted buttercup yellow - albeit with the same blue window detail, which the owners seem curiously attached to. Regardless of their colour, you have to ask yourself who would want to live in an outsize pizza oven!

I saw some comments about Pringle bay that i dont agree with.remarks like boring, dead, quite, nothing to do...bla bla bla...The locals in town are great people and can provide you with lots of fun and good times.there is a number of places to go to at night time for a good time.If you cant find anything to do imn Pringle bay...then there is something wrong with you...lol...this is a surfers haven with worlclass waves , a long beach for those lazy days, lots of accomidation, long mountain walks and a night life (that doesn't compare to cape town though) wich can provide lots of fun....tip: hook up with the locals in town and don't listen to stories of people that don't know the area

There is nothing more soothing for me than to just sit on the beach and admire the sea. Listening to the sounds that move the soul.

If you want to get in touch with nature, nothing better than sitting on a sand dune and meditating or just day dreaming.

Even though it was winter time when we went, we had lovely strolls along the beach picking up pebbles and shells.
