The bar at Joe Kools by GerryFM I do not think that there have been many visitors to Durban that have not found themselves at Joe Kools at some stage. Situated right on Durban's popular North Beach, you can not find a better location to enjoy a sundowner, good meal and then carry on partying until the early hours of the morning. During the week it is great place for people watchers to sit outside and watch the passing hustle on the promenade below. Sunday nights is Joe Kools big night, and most locals flock to JK as if they were of to church!!!
Nothing really bothers them, except at night they will not let you wear sandals. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: North Beach DurbanPhone: +27-31-3329697Directions: Just head for the beach front and go to North Beach.Website: http//:www.joekools.co.za

330 in Durban by GerryFM This used to be my favourite club, and has been around for ages. It is still the best place for dance music in the country!! Bringing on the block-rocking beats for more than 15 years, this uncompromising dance club is situated in the midst of Durban’s heavy-duty harbour industry and accordingly churns out the hardest, heaviest dance music in the country. Legendary outrider of the first rave revolution, 330 continues to be the club of choice for many in the country as it continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-shifting trends in the global dance scene. Since it opened in 1988, Durban’s first and foremost rave repository has hosted the leading lights of the dance world (Carl Cox, Dave Seagram, Tony de Vit and Josh Wink have all shredded the decks here), has been rated as one of the top 10 in the world, has opened a sister establishment in London and continues to play the hardest house on the biggest rigs for the most unrepentant members of the dance fraternity. You have got to experience!!!!
Funky, Trendy, Rave, and just about anything else. People at 330 do not seem to care ... they just want to have a good time. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 330 Point Road , DurbanPhone: Not sureDirections: Point Road is a well known road in Durban, but parts of it runs through some less savoury areas, so avoid walking there. Make sure you have a lift to your next destination by GerryFM This is my local watering hole as it is just up the road from where I live. This is another good spot just to enjoy an after work drink, or kick start your night before going out on the town. The food here is also good.... especially their home made pies!!! If you enjoy beer, then order your own 5 litre beer keg, which you can just keep topping yourself up with!!!

Front Entrance of Billy the Bums in Durban by GerryFM This is one of my current favourites. Excellent place to go to after work, for a few relaxing drinks and a really good meal. We usually start the night out at Billy's (as we call it) before heading off to the other nightclubs. B.U.M’s stands for “Basic Up Market Socialite” and this is the crowd that frequents the establishment, where focus on atmosphere is as important as on the American styled food. Choose a cocktail from the menu, which contains more than 50 exotic and classic mixed drinks, flared up for you by one of Billy’s professional cocktail bartenders. Tuesday night at Billy’s Durban is “Girls Code Red, Night Out”. They have a large out door patio, with stunning views. So come and enjoy a sundowner and the excitement of the Billy’s experience. Billy's is open Monday to Saturday, 12 noon to 12.30am.
There is no real dress code here, but most patrons are usually dressed smart casual. Good times at Tiger Tiger by GerryFM Tiger Tiger is definately one of the better nightspots in Durban. Playing music, ranging fro 80's and 90's hits , current chart favourites and a bit of real dance music, they cater for all tastes. The club really rocks on Friday and Saturday nights and there is almost always a great vibe about the place. My mate Guy, is the main DJ there and part owns the club, so be sure to say hi to him. On hot summer nights it can get quite hot inside (I am sure Nelly wrote his song about this club!) but they have a great outdoor area with a bar where you can cool down and socialise without the music blasting your ear drums. I have staggered out of Tiger Tiger a few times and have never had a bad night out there.
Smart Casual .... jeans are no problem. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: Greyville Race CoursePhone: no ideaDirections: Ask for direction to Greyville Race Course. The club is within the walls of the race course in a residential area.Website: they do not have one

The BAT centre is a great space for artists. It's a huge warehousekind of building where artists make and sell their art. They also perform dances and play music. (The world needs more places like this) On Tuesdays at 7:30 there is usually a Drum circle, and Thursday@6 is a Poetry slam. Friday nights DJ's spin. Sunday afternoons have jazz. call or stop by during the day too check out the art for sale and find out the schedual. The kids who work there are really cool. They'll help you figure out where else you want to go in the city.

by Gili_S This place was not far from our guesthouse and was on a way back, a cafe and bar, a convenience place for couple of drinks. I am sure in the summer the party is even bigger here. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: 127 Davenport RoadDirections: Glenwood

Cafe Vacca Matta by GerryFM Vacca Matta is one of Durban's new and very trendy nightspots. With a strict dress code, you need need to dress for success to gain access to this "must be seen at" night spot! Vacca Matta opened its doors in June this year (2003) and has fast become Durban's favourite night spot. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, they have a fantastic Terrace, ideal to enjoy a relaxing sundowner, whilst their Italian cuisine is excellent. Vacca Matta is well known to be South Africa's premier "Coyote Ugly" style restauraunt come night club. The party rages into the night and a definite place to visit on your travels to Durban.
A strict dress code is enforced here: Men are required to wear lounge type shirts, buttoned all the way the waist, with smart trousers and shirts. Ladies are required to dress smart as well. Great Night Out at Studio 54 Pinetown by GerryFM Pinetown is a suburb of Durban, and is about a 20 minute drive from the beachfront. Studio 54 is a good night out where you can let loose, drink dance and be merry. The ground floor is a bar with aseries of pool tables, whilst upstairs there is a large bar and a very big dancefloor. I have only be there once, but what I remember of it (far to many vodka and limes that night!!!!) the music was great and there was a good vibe. The woman are really gorgeous and there were some pretty trendy/ cool guys there as well. The play a wide variety of music from 80's classics to Dance tracks.
Nothing special that i am aware of. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: Old Main Road, PinetownPhone: not sureDirections: Next door to the McDonalds in Old Main Road PinetownWebsite: none
