Situated in the picturesque area of Weenen in the Kwazulu NAtal Midlands (a couple of hours drive west of Durban) you can enjoy a fun packed excursion to Zingela for some exciting white water rafting and/ or abseiling.
The major summer activity is white-water rafting, and the most exciting time to do this is between November and May.
The 30km stretch of river known as the canyon provides some of the most thrilling white water in the country. The South African leg of the Camel White-Water Challenge took place at Zingela and the venue received rave reviews from participants and organisers.
A wide choice of river-rafting packages is available - from half a day to four days on the river. One man Kayaks, two man crocs and eight man rafts are used on the river, in accordance with water levels and the groups abilities.
Safety is a priority, and all guides are trained by SARA. No previous rafting experience is necessary

For those of you that have an affinity for horses, and also like to get away from the maddening crowds, what better way to soak up some sun, breathe the fresh sea air and enjoy a canter along the beach.
About 25 km north of Durban, you will find an incredible coastline stretching north from Umdloti Beach, where you can take a horse back trail along the coast line for some beautiful scenery and basic all round enjoyment

Stayed in a Camp called Ubizane(means Place of calling in Zulu ). Defently not for your Locals , its expensive , but well worth it.
Accomidation consists of Stilted houses in Fever trees. You wake up in the morning feeling like your IN THE TREES. Nyala (Type of gazelle ) roam freely around the camp as well as Rhino (They don't come very close to the camp) and many other species of animal. The Resort caters for well off people looking for a relaxing holiday in the African bush.
All meals were included , and those were awsome. Do things at your own time (Africa style) Go horse riding amoughst the gazelles.

KZN brought into whale watching route:
Whale watching could become a hugely popular activity in the province in future. This is according to KwaZulu-Natal Tourism Authority corporate affairs manager Robbie Naidoo who has confirmed that the province has now been officially made part of the MTN Whale Route.
He said in the past the Whale Route concentrated on activities in the Western Cape but following a meeting today the Route would now seriously market the province as a whale watching destination also .'We are very excited as they will for start by erecting 30 educational boards province wide.'These boards will be placed at whale watching spots and provide the public with information regarding these incredible creatures of the sea.
'People don't realise that large numbers of whales migrate through this province en route to Maputo and Madagascar where they mate.'In fact we see a larger number of humpback whales than the Cape off our coastline,' he said. Naidoo said that the deal with the MTN Whale Route meant that whale watching operators in the province would also receive training from the Route. A further emphasis has been placed on the bringing of local communities into this aspect of tourism.
There have only been four whale watching licenses issued in KZN: at Shelly Beach, Durban, Richards Bay and St Lucia. The regulations only allow for one more licence to be issued in the province.
South Africa's whale watching industry contributes nearly 70 million US dollars per year to the country's economy. According to world authority Eric Hoyt, South Africa is one of the fastest-growing whale watch countries in the world, with an average annual increase of 112.5% between 1994 and 1998.This makes SA the fifth fastest growing whale watching country in the world, behind Taiwan, Iceland, Italy and Spain.'

One of the more unusual birds is the Crowned Crane. This tall, colourful bird looks regal in his yellow crown of feathers.
