Curry and more... by MikeAtSea The cuisine of Durban is influenced a lot by the large Indian population that reside here since the mid 19th century. Hence many curries and spices can be found in Durban and in particulary in the Indian Market. Dennis has been operating his shop for many many years and offers some of the best variety at good prices. This is a not for profit store to by crafts made in KZN. While they are a little more pricey then you would find elsewhere, the artists who made the items are also getting the money from a sell. The items are well made, and there is somthing for everyone. Open monday - friday 8:30-5 and Saturday 9 - 1
I personally liked the jewlery and the dolls. They also have Zulu beer pots, head rests, and many other things.
it depends on what you're getting. braclets may be around R15, a good sized doll R150 Leave a Comment Theme: Local CraftAddress: Located in Tourist Junction - 160 Pine St.Other Contact: afriart@iafrica.com

The BAT centre is a great space for artists. It's a huge warehousekind of building where artists make and sell their art. They also perform dances and play music. (The world needs more places like this) You can find all kinds of art made here right in front of you. If what you want isn't available, you can hire one of the artists too make what you want. Amoung the things you'll find are paintings, silkscreens, prints, sculptures, pots, carved statues and chairs. The kids who work there are awesome, and will show you around. I
Whatever you like. Some of the art made is for tourists, some has great political and social meaning /influence.
depends on what you want to buy and who made it. Leave a Comment Theme: ArtAddress: 45 Maritime Pl. off the Victoria EmbankmentPhone: 332-0451/4Directions: Durban Habor next to Natal Maritime Museum

Anything your heart desires by binkieloo Everything from kids plastic sunglasses to beautifully hand crafted baskets. From bead necklaces made infront of your eyes to Central African stone work. You can get everything your heart desires. I'd recommend trying the curried pineapple - it's a very interesting combination of flavours. Remember though to be aware of those around you and not to flash too much cash around.
Bead work is a specialty of the Zulu tribes. The collar necklaces can be particularly beautiful and intricate. Anything with beads would be native to Durban. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Golden Mile - Durban beach frontDirections: Addington Beach all the way north to North beach

Bling to make your heart sing-The Belly Button by sally555 The Belly Button is hidden away among other stalls in The Stables Market in Durban (just off NMR Avenue). The shops are part of the historic Newmarket Stables, which is unusual in itself, but the Belly Button is tantalisingly unusual because it's the only place in Durban where you get to see live belly dancing - for free! The shop stocks outfits and accessories for belly dancing, and is a jewel among the other fascinating stalls in the complex, which sell everything from fashion to food.
Belly dancing costumes and accessories, all the glitter and bling your heart desires!
Compared to overseas prices - extremely reasonable! Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: The Stables, Jacko Jackson Pl. (off NMR Ave)Phone: 27 31 467 2472Directions: Head towards the ABSA stadium (everyone knows where that is) turn left at the Berea Rovers Soccer Club and follow the road to The Stables.Website: www.TheBB.co.za
